This Greg Jones is turning out to be a brilliant player.

How weird... he was taken to be a doubles specialist even as late as last July or August!

Beating Lee Childs hardly qualifes as amazing! Good solid win for Jones though.

I'd hoped Illingworth might push Beck harder.

What were the odds on Irwin being last remaining Brit 2 days ago!

R2: (7) Lee Childs WR 463 lost to Greg Jones (AUS) WR 574 by 3 & 4 ashamed
R2: (Q) Matthew Illingworth WR 1398 lost to (4) Andreas Beck (GER) WR 397 by 2 & 1 cry
R2: (WC) Chris Eaton WR 874 lost to (8) Jan Stancik (SVK) WR 507 by 1 & 4 cry
R2: (Q) Tom Rushby WR 647 lost to (3) Sebastian Rieschick (GER) WR 368 by 3 & 3 cry
R2: (WC) Richard Irwin WR 957 beat (Q) Jiri Krkoska (CZE) WR 1507 by 3 & 3 smile

What's happened to Lee Childs this year? :(

Richard Irwin is the only Brit to make a QF anywhere this week and he only had to beat an out of form Andrew Kennaugh and a player with one ranking point to do it! (well done to him though, at least he DID do it!)

QF: (WC) Richard Irwin WR 957 v (2) Thomas Oger (FRA) WR 325

On Thursday, Richard is 3rd on Court 5 at about 13.00 BST.

I keep a count of how many rankings upsets go for and against the Brits each week, not counting matches where they beat each other.

A couple of days ago, we were up 6-1 this week and it looked like it was going to be a great week. Then ranking points started to be at stake and we've been on the wrong end of 8 rankings upsets in a row. ashamed

Anyone think it's time for Childs to go the same way as Aucks and concentrate on doubles.. He's ranked 519 at the moment but certainly seems to be struggling in singles. Maybe he could play with Delgado now that Aucks is with huss.

I think Childs should realistically get a day job. Can't have 10 dubs specialists in GB.
