i got to admit i have never heard of this girl before, but there is alot of hype that shes the next big thing and portugal's sole representative in tennis, i thought she was american at first!
to beat a top 50 player at that age is quite remarkable! she only 14 and the match lasted nearly 2 hours so she probably does alot of fitness work!
another thing that strikes me that she only played one ITF tournament! and she not even playing the ITF juniors yet! from what i know anyway!

In the first place I'm slightly surprised that she isn't American yet! It's tough to become a pro from Portugal and hence both her brothers (they are twins, Sebastian and Sergio) took up American citizenship. She has been at IMG from a very young age and the Americans are really after her.
Portugal is the next big thing on the global tennis map. Gastao Elias and Michelle could well dominate tennis four years from now on.
Well it does show ours up abit when a 14 year old wins like that in an event of this magnitude. However, in reality I have to say that my own personal opinion is that at 14 she did not ought to be allowed to play at this level yet. It can go wrong and spell disaster further down the road. At 14 you should have to stick to the juniors for a while longer. There is plenty of time ahead if you are good enougth to make it.
i agree with dusty! she at an age where people are making high expectations of her, so she should take her time like Sharapova who started out young but she didnt do anything big till wimbledon and shes still learning even though she won another GS last year
What about Hingis. Look at how young she was when she was able to dominate the game. I say if your good enough your old enough. I reckon she'll really be enjoying herself and the experience this week will be invaluable
