Miami Doubles

The draw is due to take place at noon local time tomorrow (Thursday), so we are likely to see the draw somewhere around 5pm UK time.

Hopefully Jamie will again get a wildcard (if needed) with Butorac, and I would presume that Henman will want to play again to get some more match sharpness. Very hard to tell if Andy will want to play (or if Brad / the physio will allow him to play), so Henman may play with someone like Zimonjic.

As there are no more US tournaments to hang around for, I doubt as many of the top singles players will opt to play doubles here, and will instead head over to Europe to prepare for the clay court season when they lose in singles.

Table updated here (Britishtennis.net)

Jamie starts the week up 1 place to 42, with a number of other players firmly within his sights should he gain entry to Miami.

Butorac also climbs 1 place to 40, but will drop behind Jamie should they win a match in Miami.

James Auckland climbs to 58 after Stepanek loses points. Unfortunately no sign of him in the challenger draws this week.

Jamie now 10th= in the race but well within reach of 7th place.

Further down the world rankings,

Andy climbs to 90
Tim climbs to 272
Ross Hutchins rises to a career high 142
Goodall climbs to 150
Jamie Baker rises to a career high 858 (but climbing into the top 700 next week) on the back of his back to back futures titles.

Yes . Hope Jamie does get a wild card here. He is doing so well at the moment.

Also be good for Tim to get doubles in again this week.

Any chance Stretch would be more likely to get the WC with Tiger Tim? Former top player etc...

I know its a long shot but...

this is an unlucky draw, but to be the best they must compete and ( hopefully) beat the best

ouch indeed! That will test their mettle!

Tiger Tim teams up with Federer's mate Yves Allegro but they've got Hanley/Ullyett first up.

Nasty draw.

Then again, nasty draws can turn into open draws with one very good win!

Noticed Goldstein plays with Querrey and Jim Thomas with Skoch. Is this the end of the Goldstein/Thomas partnership?

Very ouch!

But at least they got in the draw - that's good news :)

The last direct acceptance was in the 110s so they got in quite comfortably.

*nods*

Looks like all the singles players who opted in at Indian Wells have opted right back out again.

Unsurprising - as I think someone said elsewhere, as soon as they lose in singles they'll want to scatter and prepare for the DC ties and/or the clay.

It's a nasty draw but it will be good experience even if they lose.

Almost all of Jamie's targets are playing in Miami this week, but also some threats.

A first round win for Stretch and Booty could see Jamie rise to 38 in the rankings. I'll do a more detailed analysis after their 1st round match.

Tim Henman is playing with Fed's recent partner on tour Yves Allegro. He would need to reach the final of Miami to break the top 100.
