Development List for britishtennis.net

I suggest we use this thread to list jobs to do to improve the site:

We'll keep a running list of agreed tasks in this first post, a list of completed ones in the second post (to remind us what we've achieved), A list of jobs being considered in a third one and the rest of the thread is free form for suggestions and discussions.

The task list is:

Number Task Name                           Assigned To        Expected by
1      Interviews Blog on front page       Rob                23/3/07
2      Links Page                          Shedman            ?
3      Forms For pick-em comps             Rob/Steven         ?

Is anything going to be done with the live-scores page?

Copied to this post, so I can insert a third post  (sorry John)

The current idea is to have a "livescores" page when we have someone at a british futures or challengers event.  Any ideas about what else we shoudl do for livescores?

How about links to webpages and possibly live scoreboards for all the events British players are taking part in that week. I'd be happy to help out on collecting the links if necessary.

We need more profiles!

Sheddy, where are the Rice and Pauffley profiles?

That would be good: maybe if we put that on the "schedules" page, though?? - next to the tournament & players in the table, or as a link from the tournament name?

- Although it'd also be useful to have the "independent" livescores links (like the Czech teletext site) as a more general link.....hmmm...

John, could you mock something up in word for us - take (say) this week's schedules table and see what you can do.  Good resources would be steveg and MTF.

I totally agree Arka...I'm working on some for the mens and womens atm in the evenings. If anyone else is interested in doing any, let me know

Oops, lol I've been meaning to post those Rice and Pauffley profiles for 3 months now ! Will do it tonight, do you have a Pauffley photo Arka ? Wonder if Tubba has any of him ?

Links to the scoreboards sounds good John...maybe for some challengers, we could do an arrangement with the tourney website so that there's a live score feed for the British matches on the live scores page..so we can follow it there.

The other idea is to try and get an arrangement with the LTA to get live scoring for some GB challengers and futures and have it on the live scores page. Bladetiger thinks we should try and sort something for the Cardiff challenger....I've been waiting to get the site publicized more before going ahead with trying to do this.

Thing is the schedule table already links to the thread on the forum relating to that tournament. Would there need to be two links for each tournament coming off the schedule page. I'll have a play around with it when I finish work at 9pm tonight.

David, those profiles are now badly outdated. We'll need to add to them...

I have Pauffley pics but they aren't too recent.

I agree with Rob's suggestion to have a new section for entry lists and the rankings threads....who shall be mods for that section ? what order should the sections go ?

I have a team match away against St Albans on Sat..it's a big club, I plan to stick up a card on their noticeboard about the site...maybe something like the business cards Drew handed out to journos at the DC with a few changes ?

I used to put in the entry lists for Andy's matches, and I have to research them to help in Rob's rankings. Arka has been beating me to it to post the entry lists so I gave up! I am quite willing to take it back and give him some more time to deal with other things, if wanted.

I've always managed to avoid the women's side (in which I have little interest) but if somebody can point me where to find their entry lists I would do that as well. I get the men's from steveg site.

Mad, that'd be wondeful.

What we do need for the main site is something similar to Seagul's list for the Women....

(It doesn't help that Anne K seems to enter every tournament every week)

Suggested Mods - assuming they're interested, and all other things being equal: Sheddie, Rob, Drew, GC77, Seagull, Steven, and whoever takes on the Womens role. Arka for Juniors?

I suggest that you simply change the Andy's ranking section to Entry lists and rankings (ie just change the title) so we have

Latest AM news
Entry lists and Rankings
British Men
British Women
General Tennis Discussion (I suggest taking out the 'Henman and Rusedski')
etc (OK, I confess to forgetting the current order of the rest but don't change it!)

As for mods, Rob's list looks pretty good to me, of course I would never turn down power if you wanted to make me one as well wink.gifbiggrin.gif
