Derek, Thank you for owning up as it were, and posting what you did, it has a lot of merit and you shouldn't worry about being too new to the posting game to have any weight in your opinions, a good idea/point is a good idea/point whoever it comes from and I think we'd all say that.
May I suggest that we all try and self-edit articles when posting. By which I mean taking the time to proof-read before you post (something I know I'm guilty of not doing in the past). But on top of that we have the ad hoc system suggested so that there's a general agreement that if you see a mistake and you have the ability to edit, you edit. I know I've shyed away from correcting spellings in the past due to fear of causing offence. If we could agree on that it would take away the need to get your article signed off before posting which, whilst being the 'perfect' solution would cause problems in terms of practicalities of getting the articles up as quickly as possible - which is something we're committed to as a site.
Agreed. And also people shouldn't shy away from editing other peoples articles if they feel there is something else needed to be said.
Well it seems our resident "god of grammar" DJ has decided that my spelling is not up to scratch so I'll leave you guys to get down with things.

Personally I think we should have a system with Madeline, Derek and John acting as editors with the news articles.......the reason I say this is because John volunteered enthusiastically to do it earlier in the thread, his previous articles on the site have been excellent grammatically wise and it would be a bit of a slight to him to exclude him....if we have 3 people in this capacity then who finds a mistake first can edit it and if 1 person is busy then the other 2 will still be around which will be useful come 2008 when there are lots of articles going up. I think Rob is pretty busy already with his ranking threads and same with me, though I'm definately going to help out more from now on with articles
Derek, great that you're doing some articles aswell The more the merrier....John will you be around to do a few articles ?
Reading your post on page 4, you mentioned a number of times about being worried of causing offence and actually leaving.....there's no need to think like that...on this site we encourage everyone to express their opinions on whatever topic, there are no strict rules or anything like that , we encourage good healthy debate and I think everyone is pretty relaxed about it all.....as a result we've never had any real big bust-ups which is quite unusual for a forum of this size and there's none of the aggressiveness we can be found on a number of other tennis forums Ive been on (MW is one example). None of our mods are 'dictatorial' in the slightest and when it comes to issues we discuss them with everyone to find the best solution.
Have thoroughly enjoyed reading your posts so far, please continue
I do totally agree with your points....a lot of the British players do read this site...I know this for sure, even the Murray brothers have read it in the past (and may still do, its hard to keep track). LTA people like Roger Draper, Paul Hutchins also read it aswell as journos like the Times...Neil Harman has got info from here in the past
Sheddie, could I just clarify...Would the editing system mean those three reading articles BEFORE they've been added to the site, or reading and editing them AFTER they go up? Personally I like the idea of those three being editors and don't mind either system, I just want to make sure we're all understanding and following the same system

I'c prefer it to be AFTER: I'd hate there to be a backlog of articles because I'd not checked them through. If whoever posts an article could leave a message in the "bt.net" thread when they've done it, then one of the "editors" will be alerted and can check. In fact anyone who sees the thread post can check.
Oh yeah, I definately meant for the editing to be done after the articles are posted....otherwise as Rob said there'd be quite a few problems with backlog
I don't have the invisible links thing so I presume it's been corrected now. Would be good to get rid of the Will Andy win Wimbledon 2008? banner, though!
