Sheddie - what d'you think? And can you do the biz?
Just got round to reading all this....sorry
I like the idea of renaming the sections to "Andy Murray" and "General tennis discussion," as Mad said, that makes a lot more sense now....altering the name of the "Andy's ranking" section also worked well, meant less work in transferring entry lists. Apologies for omitting Tim's name, wasn't intentional , I'm still a Henman fan !
Very willing to be a mod in the 'entry list section'...if that is the way to go...but
I like the MTF format of Current events, Upcoming events and previous events.
I also like the way that ATPs, Challengers and Futures are seperated.
That maybe just too much for here ? So....I would do...for example...
Brits in ATPs >
ATP Queens >
* entry lists * main draw singles * main draw doubles R1 : Boggo v Federer LIVESCORE R2 : Boggo v .....etc
etc....etc... the main threads* would be sticky only
Brits in Challengers >
as above...
Brits in Futures >
as above...
So this gives the clear seperation I like but doesnt need the current/upcoming/previous further separation that mtf do.
Comments !
Interesting idea Drew
Personally I think that it might be a bit too complicated to navigate...particularly as we'd have to do it for the women aswell ! That means 6 discussion sections and a lot of sub-forums.
I think that the guests don't tend to check sections not in the top 4..."Andy's ranking" got a huge amount more hits as no 2 then it did as no 6/7
I like the current order, one of the problems we were having was that the ranking threads were taking up most of the sections...that's not an issue now
What do other people think about Drew's idea ? If a lot of ppl are in favour, I'm happy to change things
Also, what's the opinion on a separate Davis Cup section ?
I think a separate Davis Cup section might be a bit too much. yes there are lots of Davis Cup threads on the DC weekend but the rest of the time it's just the one in the Brit Men Discussion section so doesn't really need/merit a whole sub-forum to itself.

Its a great idea if the admin/mods do them all when they are available but its quite an off putting format for those of us who sometimes find the odd event with a brit in or the futures qualies draws etc that we want to post before we have all the info now required.
Is it ok to post as before with the knowledge that a mod will update the thread to include the relevant info?
I received a PM (as moderator) from someone who is unhappy with the standard of English in some of the postings on bt.net, as it does not give a very good impression of the site when there are repeated mis-spellings and blatant grammar errors. Spell-checks are not always helpful, if such a word exists they will pass it even if it is not the right word in the context.
I don't actually have anything to do with anything on bt.net, just this message board: but if anybody posting on there is uncertain of their spelling or grammar, I would be quite happy to look over drafts and make any necessary adjustments if they PM them to me. I don't claim to be infallible but my standard is reasonably high (she said with due modesty!)
Please don't take this amiss - we are very grateful to those who keep the site up to date! There is no way I have enough tennis knowledge to post there myself.
That would probably reffering to me, as I have done most of the articles recently. Spellings are generally not my strong point, especially on a computer, I find I need to write it out to get a correct spelling.
I would invite that person to do the articles him/herself if he/she could do better. Or at least edit it after. The articles take long enough to do without checking/double checking spelling.
We have got pretty good links with the LTA thanks to Drew...ie they got us the Ross Hutchins blog last month, their reporters read bt.net and this forum daily.....
however, hopefully we can get a better link to bt.net sorted on the LTA site
plans for 2008....are to set up a britishtennis.net radio station to provide commentary at Surbiton, Queens qualies and several other summer tourneys (ie atp Nottingham and maybe some of the July challengers)
I'm also intending to setup an experimental webcam service, providing a live video feed onto bt.net from the Sutton 25K...need to sort out things for this in the next month or so....hopefully if it goes well, this may be possible at other tourneys
