Wow.....Smith (4) bt Klein (Aus)(9) 6-3, 6-1. That is great.
I read the following from British Tennis online (an amazing place for news). Klein has a great future ahead of him so nice to see him having to wait another week to make further inroads:
"Klein could provide some problems for Matt Smith: he's only 17 and beat Sergei Bubka and Igor Sjisling last week in straights before taking a set off Zack Fleishman !! He's ranked no 4 in the junior world rankings. "
Great result for Smith there JUst goes to show how hard it can be going from juniors to senior level .
Interesting the fact that Flanagan is only playing double this week I know he wouldent of made the main draw cut but what about qualies? And surely it isnt even worth staying around all week for doubles when the prize money is so little. Does anyone no the actual prize money for doubles at future level?

Seator isn't a good option either.
Illingworth and Searle are good choices.

I agree, I don't understand those wc selections, I would have thought a junior would have got one...surely Evans deserved one and he's not going to be around for next week's 15K. Slabba and Sagoo haven't had the results lately and it's probably good for Hewitt to try and battle his way through a few qualies though to be fair, he deserves more than the 1 wc he's had so far.
Maybe Ross hasn't given up on singles yet ? His father being head of men's tennis will also direct a few wcs his way
I've no idea why Seator's got on Maybe because he's prepared to travel all over the globe to get points.

As you say, that's bizarre, maybe he was expecting a wildcard which got switched elsewhere at the last moment ? Maybe the attractions of Bath on a Saturday night proved too tempting and he forgot the qualies sign-in ?
Maybe him, Kasiri and Evans are all currently sitting in the bar, wondering what happened to the wcs ?
Doubles dosh for futures is very sparse, I guess he might just be able to break even for the week if he wins the title.
A lot of the Brits have drawn seeds so not too many expected to progress...Tom Rushby has drawn fellow qualifier Darrin Cohen who's ranked 500 places lower Seator plays Thiemo de Bakker Bloomers won't be too happy to see De Bakker in his section, they're likely to meet in the quarters.
Lee Childs is up against hard hitting Aussie 5th seed Rob Smeets in rd1. It's a tough draw as Smeets has been on form, qualifying for ATP Sydney, winning a match at the Aussie Open and winning a 15K title.
Matt Smith has the worst draw, he plays top 250 player and 2nd seed Baccanello
