Well we all knew she was a goos player. You don't get a career high of 184 doing nothing. Janes problem has always been consistency in her results. One week beating much better players then the next loosing to people she should beat with her eyes closed.

Yeah winning would have improved her ranking a lot. Wong is ranked about 900 places higher than Jade and I meant that she may have played that ranking instead of the player - ie been intimidated by Wong's ranking and 2007 form and gone out there not really believing she could win.
That happened a couple of weeks ago in Sunderland when Jade Windley lost 6-2, 6-3 to Celine Cattaneo who's ranked in the 500s. However, Luke Milligan and I thought Jade would win as her game matches up well against Cattaneo, problem was she played Catteneo's ranking and didn't go out and play her game.
I just wondered as Jade Curtis is a much better player than that scoreline suggested, she has the game to cause someone like Wong problems.
Ahh! I see what you mean now, I got completely the wrong end of that particular stick! I had assumed that you were refering to some (non-existant as it turns out) advantage of not winning the match.
Wow, what a result for Julia ! Never thought she'd beat Jane, she must have played a lot more aggressively than usual to win that one. Hopefully this is a sign that the things she's been working on with Nigel Sears are paying off.
This takes her up 55 places to approx 620. If she makes the final she'll be close to the top 600. It's her first 10K semi, never been past the quarters before. However, she has made a 25K quarter-final (in the Felixstowe grass 25K last summer where she beat a top 120 player).
Julia now faces American 4th seed Jennifer Tuchband in Saturday's semis. Tuchband is ranked 503, she started with a shaky 3 set win over a qualifier in rd1 before finding her form to defeat Britain's Olivia Scarfi and American Susanne Lingman in straight sets to reach the last 4.
She's doing really well isn't she! Hopefully she'll stay confident and go for her shots in the final! I think she'll have to to stand any chance of winning!
