This will put Dani in the top 500. But it may be transient, as she is defending 5 points at the start of April.

Good effort from Dani, a lot closer than some of her other matches recently against top 300 opponents. She has the game to beat players of that quality with her serve and the power she can generate off the ground. Power-wise, she's as good as top 50 girls. However, she needs to improve her shot selection and consistency and maybe try and mix things up a bit more in order to move up the rankings and make top 300 and higher.

Yeah Danielle has always been a mystery to me. She has a huge serve and groundies and is capable of beating a lot of higher ranked players.

I think consistency is her problem plus she seems to have problems with the mental aspect of ther game. I saw her play Rebecca Llewellyn a few years ago at bolton and she had the macth in her pocket but she started to miss then got annoyed and screamed at one point

'She never hits a winner'

If she can imporve both aspects she can easily get ranked much higher.

I think that a lot of the time she beats herself due to poor shot selection and as you say, the mental side of the game. I watched her beat Abbie Probert in Sutton...Dani won 6-2, 7-5 and with all due respect to Probert, she was outpowered for most of the match but once she started getting a few more balls back in set 2 and hit a few good forehands, Dani started getting really frustrated. All she needed to do was construct the points - move Probert around the court with deep shots to either side, but instead she started going for even bigger shots early in the rallies and bombing everything long, as a result she came close to losing the set.

Her serve is massive and on its day it's nigh unreturnable. However, she needs to get more 1st serves in....maybe she should just take 5-10 mph off the pace and get more in. She also hits her 2nd serve just as hard as her first a lot of the time and so double-faults a lot (she hit 4 consecutive doubles v Probert) which seems a bit crazy..

She has the potential to be top 200, lets hope she can get together with Nigel Sears (or one of the other top performance coaches) and work out how best to utilise the raw power she possesses.

I'd be tempted to give her a wc for Wimbledon qualies...on fast grass courts she could cause some big upsets on a good day, if that serve is firing even the top 150 girls will have problems getting a hold of it...especially at Roehampton where the courts are really fast
