The New Table is posted here (On Britishtennis.net)

As Guy has told us on the week 10/11 thread, Ljubicic drops 2 places to 9 (just 145 points ahead of Andy); Nalbandian drops 1 place to 12, meaning that Andy starts the week up one to 11!!

Ferrer drops 2 places to 16, making him much less of a threat.

Andy can climb as high as 7 if he makes the final in Miami. Targets are Djokovic,Ljubicic, Haas and Blake.  He can be overtaken by Nalbandian, Berdych, Gasquet, Ferrer and Youzhny.

Bethan will be along with the "What- If"s later.

Today in Miami, Andy plays Goldstein;Ahead, Nole plays Bracciali and Blake plays Serra. Behind, Ferrer plays Tim threat Monaco and Youzhny plays Gabashvili.

How's that "What-if" coming along, Bethan?

Djokovic wins his opening match - Blake loses his, Hrbaty loses his. This gives Djokovic a fairly smooth passage to the QFs AGAIN and will make it harder for Andy to overhaul him.

Hewitt has withdrawn meaning Andy won't get another seed in the next round but Gonzalez is still very much present and correct, and Roddick has yet to play.

Djokovic's  victory takes him past Ljubicic to number 9. 

Blake and Baghdatis are knocked out, Hewitt withdraws.


Today, top threat Nalbandian plays Spadea, top target Ljubicic plays Volandri;  Robredo plays Kim, Haas plays Falla, Berdych plays Tim- threat Clement, Gasquet plays Grosjean, Ferrero plays Canas.

If Andy loses in the third round:

The best possible scenario is a ranking of 11.

He can be overtaken by:
Nalbandian, if he reaches the semis.
Berdych, if he reaches the finals.
Gasquet, if he wins it.
Ferrer, if he wins it.
Youzhny, if he wins it.

The worst possible scenario is a ranking of 13.


If Andy loses in the fourth round:

Well the good news is that Andy is likely to get to and stay at 11th - the only likely threat is if Nalbandian makes the semis, which is certainly possible but seems unlikely on recent form. He's opened enough of a gap between him and the chasing pack to make it highly difficult for them to catch him this week.

On the flip side, there's enough of a gap between him and the top 10 to mean he has to make semis again to break into the top 10 this week, which will likely mean defeating Gonzalez and Roddick. So it's a pretty tough ask.

Just a quick question Rob. on the points available at miami - 500 350 225 125 75 35 (20) 5 ... why is the 20 in brackets? i've noticed it before, but never figured it out.

not quite

- It's trying to express (obviously not very well) that everyone gets 5 points for participating, and those without a bye through the first round get 20 points for reaching the 2nd round, wheras they all get 35 points for reaching the third round.  (qualifiers get an extra 5 points, final qualifying round losers - including lucky losers - get an extra 3 points)
