I don't think that any of our top Juniors are ready yet. Evans will be 17 and 2 while Cox will still be 16. Dyce hasn't done much on the men's circuit.
I would love to see the Murrays ask for a wild card to Jamie. It's unlikely that he'll be denied one and at least it'll go to a Brit. And Jamie could stun quite a few clay courters out there!
hmm, so bloomers probably deserves one, but will miss out on the current rules. will they force him to go into the playoffs? alex was one year, which he won farily comfortably.
i agree i think thee could be a good chance of one heading jamie's way, as that will please the public, but to real tennis fans it may be a bit silly, jamie has no interest in singles it seems, so it is denying a chance to some who is interested in singles.
so at the moment wc's should go to: boggo, baker, goodall, marray
that leaves quite a few up for grabs doesnt it, even more if boggo an get DE, when is the cut off date?

i agree that its better than going overseas, i also agree bloomers deserves one, but the lta my think on the back of that win he should have moved on, what is the point of having the rules if you break them :)
the rule maybe disregarded however, as they were feldgates not drapers.
so bascilacy if alex does well in lanazrote he has a chance, bearing in mind he has 12 points to come off next week.

If he wins the title in Cardiff, reaches the semis in Lanzarote and then wins a round or two in Praha, he should get there.
If the LTA denies Jamie a wild card Andy can just say "Get lost! I'm never playing Davis Cup again". I'm sure that he'll get one if he is really interested in it.
The doubles cut for grand slams is generally around 150, which means that both Jamie and Aucks would comfortably get direct entry to both the French and Wimbledon.
I think 7 doubles wildcards are available for GSs, so most of our top 10 doubles players should get in here if they want to.
mens doubles at Wimby will be full of Brits this year.
We even got some doubles qualifiers last year!
Bloomers won a round last year and HAS moved on becuase they rewarded him with the DC spot. I reckon its highly unlikely Draper will refuse Bloomers a WC.
The LTA have scrapped the Wimbledon wc playoff and wc rules for this year...instead it will nominate 8 British men and 8 British women and Wimbledon will award wcs to whichever of those it thinks are most deserving. Apparently, they're going to be keeping a really close scrutiny of the results of the players in with a chance, over the next 6-8 weeks.
1. It avoids the inevitable Press mockery on the first Wednesday about 15 Brits going out in the first round.
2. Why should inadequate British players get a free gift of £20,000 (that's about what you get if you go out in the first round of singles, doubles and mixed doubles). The government don't give free handouts to doctors or lawyers who don't come up to scratch, so why should the AELTC do likewise for tennis players?
3. There's a hoary old myth about players "giving their careers a kick start" by fluking a win in the first round. Mmm ... you mean like Childs beating Davydenko, Hilton beating Costa, O'Donoghue beating Groenefeld. Yes, I can see that ......

You do have a point, but then why should it got to people like the Scud and Pavel? It should go to younger foreigners who have a future in the top 50, or else it should go to the next highest ranked person on the entry list.
Or else simply trade wild cards, dumb authorities! Naomi and Bloomers could get one into the US Open then.
And every country has a wild card play off. Why shouldn't we?
