I have closed the new thread I started, Panda.

When I put "monte carlo" into the search facility, the most recent posting it came up with was March 2006. . .

Is Monte Carlo a fast clay court? Tigger has done well in the doubles here in the past hasn't he?

Monte Carlo is one of the fastest clay court tournaments - fastish surface with fast balls. In 2002 Tim got to the semis with victories over Coria, Massu, Chela and Johansson. He was beaten by Moya in three sets in cool and damp conditions which slowed the game down significantly.  In 2004, Tim and Zimonjic  won the doubles.  Tim could still be a top notch doubles player if he wanted to be, but I think he'll hang his racquet up once he decides he can't cut it at singles any more...

Reckon if he wants to, most of the field would be happy to play doubles with him!

Tim to go deep again this year

Roddick and Blake are out, so Andy is just one place away from a top eight seeding!

That would be great. Get him straight into R2!

I gather Butorac and Murray are not expected to make the cut for doubles nor get a WC...so Andy will probably be playing doubles with Jamie

Roddick will surely not be fined. He withdrew from this week, too.

Blake will be fined badly. This is a disgrace... he is playing this week, so he plans to be injured sometime soon. smile

I get the feeling that, officially or unofficially, they allow them 2 withdrawals from a TMS before imposing fines. So they won't fine Roddick or Blake - I don't think they ever come over for MC (so I'm not sure why Roddick reportedly signed the "save MC as a TMS" petition in Miami - why does he care? )

Ah, I didn't know that they allow you to withdraw from two events.

But surely this is plain cheating the law? confused Blake is fit but isn't playing!

Jamie said post DAvis Cup he was hoping to persuade Andy to play Monte Carlo with him as he would need Andy's ranking to get in!
