64 player Masters are now defunct. They have been replaced with 56 player ones as De Villiers wanted top players to get the first bye and hence some more rest.
Monte Carlo is one of the fastest clay court tournaments - fastish surface with fast balls. In 2002 Tim got to the semis with victories over Coria, Massu, Chela and Johansson. He was beaten by Moya in three sets in cool and damp conditions which slowed the game down significantly. In 2004, Tim and Zimonjic won the doubles. Tim could still be a top notch doubles player if he wanted to be, but I think he'll hang his racquet up once he decides he can't cut it at singles any more...
I get the feeling that, officially or unofficially, they allow them 2 withdrawals from a TMS before imposing fines. So they won't fine Roddick or Blake - I don't think they ever come over for MC (so I'm not sure why Roddick reportedly signed the "save MC as a TMS" petition in Miami - why does he care? )
