The seed closest to Myles in the draw dropped out, so he has a winnable R2 match here. Simon probably doesn't, but has doubled his ranking points here.

great results for both of them...things will suit Childs over the next few weeks as the tournaments in Australia are being held on "classic clay" courts which is really astroturf with a lot of sand on it. This makes the courts extremely slippy and so heavily favours the big servers like Childs.
Blake's win was impressive, that wasn't an easy draw. Ball made the semis in Hamilton last week. Miles did beat him 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 a few weeks ago in Wellington so maybe that gave him an edge ?
V tough next match for Childs. Mazarakis has a huge serve and double-bagelled a qualifier in rd1 ! He's currently ranked 378 but has been as high as 110 before a poor 2006 season sent his ranking into free-fall. In just over a yr, Mazarakis has gone from challengers and ATP qualies to 10Ks.
Blake has a good chance of winning, Ebden benefitted from the 7th seed pulling out and so he got a lucky loser in rd1. Still only struggled through in 3 sets. Ebden beat British no 4 Richard Bloomfield in Aussie Open qualies at the start of the year but he's been unable to reproduce that form since and before this tournament he hadn't won a main draw match since last October
R2: Myles Blake WR 841 beat Matthew Ebden (AUS) WR 804 by 2 & 2 R2: (Q) Simon Childs WR 1525 lost to (2) Vasilis Mazarakis (GRE) WR 378 by 2 & 1
QF: Myles Blake WR 841 v Jose Statham (NZL) WR 850
On Friday, Myles is 1st on Court 6 at about 23.00 GMT on Thursday our time.
Statham has won both of his previous matches 2 & 0, the last one against the no. 4 seed. His wins this week have been a level above what he has achieved in other tournaments recently, so that may mean that the no. 4 seed was hampered by an injury. In that case, a more relevant result may be that the only other time Statham has played a Brit in the last two years, he lost to Andrew Kennaugh.
