I believe some congratulations are in order, this result means that Robert Dee has broken the British record for most consecutive losses with 42, overtaking Adam Lownsbrough who's previous record stood at 41.
Robert is now just 11 losses off the world record, if things go to plan he should get there by the end of May or beginning of June at the latest.
Oh wow, I can't believe I missed that! Maybe that's the idea - get to the magic 53, pushing things a bit close a few times on the way, then start winning ...
A bit more info on this fabulous achievement:
Robert has now lost 42 matches in a row - and 84 sets in a row, because unlike Adam, he has never retired from a match! He has been bagelled (23 times) or breadstuck (27 times) in 50 of those 84 sets.
Despite Robert having never got through a round without a bye (Adam got a W/O against Michael Ryderstedt in Telde, his last tournament before he retired), Robert has achieved two positive things that Adam never managed:
1) He took a set to a tiebreak earlier this year, losing it 7-1.
2) He won a doubles match, when he teamed up with Paul Brighten (whom you may also remember from the Dee/Brighten/Lownsbrough Challenger WC article in the Times) to beat Sudanese pairing Murtada el Harith & Medour Rusthei (he must have been, too!) 6-3 7-6(6) in the Khartoum Future in 2005. They lost 1 & 3 in the next round to Amadeus and his partner - wow, that was one tough doubles draw!

Robert Dee must be very careful. There are young up and coming players pushing to try and take his coveted record. One of them played here, Benjamin George Levi is currently 0-11 in his career, although he did manage to take a set today for the first time in his career.

James double bagelled the player who double bagelled Edward Fowler last week. Fowler must be seriously rubbish!

I suppose I should say congratulations to Robert Dee for this record, and now he can go for the world record before getting the win that he is going to get this year (he has to draw someone worse than him at some point, and he is due one of his opponents being struck down with injury)
I'm really pleased, he's gone through a tough time lately, hasn't been much fun out there with those courts, he's been getting down about some of the results plus his Dad's seriously ill back in GB.
If I can ever get on msn this evening, I might be able to get some match info.
