I think that the initial idea was that some youngsters wanted to get warm weather training in places where there were better facilities. Now it has become a trend and everyone is running abroad.
I'm all in favour of it. Most of our top younger girls train abroad full time or temporarily, and it's them so much good.
The LTA should have started a base abroad instead of the Roehampton one. I remember Mark Petchey came out saying that we would have made a far better investment if we created the same thing in La Manga. I agree - land must be cheaper and Spain is where the action is!
