TMS Indian Wells

Then again, it could be worse - it's taken Lepchenko and Voskoboeva 3 and a half hours to get to the final set tiebreak. I can only image the moonball rallies going on out there.

Anne is really up against it now.

Game: Meng consolidates her lead

Anne now 6-7, 1-3 down. Massive opportunity missed there. Absolute must-hold service game now

I get the feeling "Massive Missed Opportunities" could be the three-word write-up of this match if it continues in this vein much longer

Meng breaks to 30 and leads 7-6, 4-1.

A set and a double break down, looks like Anne's Indian Wells run is over for another yr

Yeah that's how you take a double break lead, Anne, in case you weren't sure

Oh dear.

Maybe things aren't all done and dusted yet. Meng goes 40-15 up but Anne pulls it back to deuce, double fault from Meng gives Anne a bp which she takes.

6-7, 2-4

One of the breaks back, 4-2. Now can she hold and then do it all again - twice?

Perhaps not!

Anne gets one of the breaks back, but needs to remember how to hold this game

Yeah it's not to be, is it....as Anne is broken again and Meng serves for it at 5-2.

A microcosm of this match....Anne goes 40-15 out on serve but is unable to close the game out. Meng gets back to deuce, an ill-timed double fault gives her bp which she takes to lead 7-6, 5-2

Anne loses. 67 36

it tells you something about the match when of the 21 service games played 12 went against the server.

Anne badly needs to learn how to win her service games, it's simply crazy. She's breaking opponents about 6-8 times per match and still losing !

To be honest, this is an encounter she should have won, really big opportunity missed
