GB F5 - Jersey 15K (Indoor Hard)

Nice to see Jamie B in the quarters. Brewer performed fairly well against Clemens

Here was Jamie's reply to the email I sent him.

hey craig,

thanks for the email. How are things with you?

I played really well in my first match here against quite a good swedish player. I won again today 2 and 4 so I am in the quarters. I am trying to play super aggressive and use my speed around the court to attack as well as defend.

not much else to report, great to hear from you,

Jamie

Good win for Jamie B there, and it looks like this is going to be another good tournament for him. Would be good for him to take the title here, as it would carry on his good start to the season, and 2 or 3 good weeks in the UK futures would improve his ranking enough to probably get him into challengers every week

Is that the first time a British player has ever merited 5 'good's in just two short sentences? Good for Jamie!

Great win for Josh there, especially in a match that was as close as it was, and it should really give him the confidence to kick start his season

Second Round

R2: (1) Josh Goodall WR 213 beat Aisam Qureshi (PAK) WR 425 by 6-3 6-7(5) 7-6(5)
R2: (3) Jamie Baker WR 249 beat (Q) Blazej Koniusz (POL) WR 824 by 2 & 3
R2: (WC) David Brewer WR 904 lost to (2) Tobias Clemens (GER) WR 223 by 6-2 7-6(1)

QF: (1) Josh Goodall WR 213 v Marco Crugnola (ITA) WR 279
QF: (3) Jamie Baker WR 249 v Fritz Wolmarans (RSA) WR 546

Jamie won easily again but Josh was pushed surprisingly close by Qureshi and next faces the player who beat him 4 & 3 in the recent Wrexham Challenger. Jamie's opponent Wolmarans, however, has not played a Brit since 2004, when he beat Jonny Marray.

Really good wins here for Jamie and especially Josh
I have seen qureshi play before and i have always believed he is a much better player than his ranking suggests. Good look in the quater final Jamie and Josh.

Jamie keeping things going along nicely. Should be another fairly easy match next, going by rankings, keeping plenty in the tank for the semis and final. It's great to see 2 of our better players coming home to help the Brits fight back in our home futures considering the trouncing we've taken in the last few!

Good results from Jamie and Josh, hopefully Josh can use the qf to get revenge and put his slow start to the season fully behind him.

Shame about Brewer although looks like he made it closer than expected losing 2 and 6 to someone ranked nearly 700 places higher ain't all that bad really! I hope he takes confidence from the result and moves onwards and upwards.

That scoreline looked a bit too close for comfort for Josh.. I really hope he gets some real confidence soon and can step it up against higher ranked players.

Nice to see Josh squeak through another match! Should give him confidence now.

Doubles final last week and now two wins in a row!

The way Jamie's been performing this year I'd be disappointed if he didn't make the final here!
