Kyoto (JPN) 25k+H Challenger 2007 (Indoor Spuckturf)

Ram has just got a place in indian Wells qualies. I wonder if he tanked this match to get there?

Just seen that too - according to stevegtennis he has NOT withdrawn from that event - the lure of the money and the biger points!

Also notice that Bobby Reynolds is 1st alternative and the talk is that he could get a place too - and he happened to lose his first round match too!

Looks like Mackin beat Burgsmuller in a mammoth 6-7 (8) 7-6 (3) 7-6 (7), although I would rather see an English version to be sure!

the people on MTF have the opposite score:  Alan out to Burgsmuller

(edit: apologies for having read a win first time I looked)

Wow, what a win ! Go Mackin !!!! That one must have been a nerve-jangler, wonder how many match points he saved

Burgsmuller is currently ranked a few places lower but he was a regular on the ATP tour a couple of years ago, reached no 65 and beat Henman. He's been in the top 150 and making latter stages of challengers until v recently.

With Ram out, the draw's now opened up for Mackin !

The evidence for Mackin having won is that:

- he is the lower numbered player on the drawsheet which seems to be placed above the higher numbered player

- his number on the drawsheet is 17, which is the number of the winner

- the Japanese script for Mackin, which was posted above, matches the winner

However, I await official confirmation in English before being absolutely sure!

No no Rob, he won.

The MTF score is wrong, someone won 6-7,7-6, 7-6. The official site says that 17 bt 20 and on the drawsheet, Mackin is 17 and Burgsmuller is 20

Yoshi just confirmed Burgsmuller won

Guess I'll proceed on that basis with the rankings thread & hope the ATP draw proves me wrong

Hopefully Yoshi just looked at Kid's post and copied and pasted. It could be the case as apart from the scoreboard, on the official site there's no up-to-date draw (with rd2 results) or list of results from today.

It's very strange as if Yoshi and Kid are right, the tournament scoreboard is completely wrong...scoreboard gives it that Mackin/Burgsmuller won 6-7, 7-6, 7-6 while on MTF they're saying that the score was 7-6, 6-7, 7-6.

Also, if Burgsmuller won 7-6, 6-7, 7-6 then the numbers on the scoreboard don't tie up.

I wonder where they got that score from ??

The Jappanese scoreboard definitely says Alan won 6-7(8) 7-6(3) 7-6(7), there's no doubt about that. There's no room for misinterpretation, so if Burgsmuller won, the tournament site must have got it wrong.

If Alan did win, his QF draw is:

QF: (8) Alan Mackin WR 275 v Stéphane Bohli (SUI) WR 283

grr I hate complications over who won. Hoping Mackin did win. If so I think he should be able to beat Bohli, just hope fatigue isn't a factor as that match would've gone on for a while.
