According to the steveg site, Greg was offered a wildcard to qualifying (which was why he was on the list) but apparently he has turned it down.
Odd. You would think he would want to get some matches in. I know he is entered in a challenger the next week, but if he is wanting to play DC he ought to be playing as many matches as possible. I wonder if he is still not fit?
Either that or he had tickets for Dancing on Ice tonight and decided that was more important. Someone's spotted him in the audience, apparently.
Seriously, I really hope he's not still injured, but if he isn't, it's astonishing that he hasn't taken up a WC at a venue that suits his game so much.

That is utterly bizarre if he has turned down the wildcard. Is the challenger he's entered for in Europe? If so it may simply be that he doesn't want to go so far away from home anymore, that's the only thing I can think, over than injury of course.
Oh well, I hope to see him back but I fear it's getting less and less likely.

I don't know: It's one hell of a long way to fly, just for a qualies tournament, when you're at Greg's stage in his career. Especially when you'd have to get back to Europe again for Sarajevo the following week. I can't imagine a dodgy hip responds well to sitting in a long- haul airplane seat for a 12 hour flight either.
Let's see how Greg gets on in Sarajevo and whether he is still able to play the standard of tennis required before denouncing him as unfit to play for his country!

I know what you are trying to say, but that makes me laugh.
I mean, we are hardly some Spain or USA... we lost to Israel and were tested by Ukraine.
That's exactly my point! lol how can we sit there and say he doesn't deserve to play for us, not like we are some superpower. As it stands, he is still an assett to us in any sort of form. So let's not start knocking him.
