Anne Keothavong and Katie O'Brien have both entered qualifying for this week's Las Vegas 75K.
Anne is seeded 6th and faces 17 year old wildcard Julia Cohen in round 1. Cohen is the world no 6 in the juniors and already has a women's ranking of 368. She plays most of her tournaments in Central and South America. Her best result in 2006 was making a 25K quarter-final in Mexico City. She's played a handful of tournaments so far in 2007, making the final of two G1s and losing in qualifying for WTA Bogota.
Katie faces 27 year old American Diana Ospina. Ospina is ranked 298 and has a career best of 231 (reached in 2003). She spent large periods of 2006 out with injury but still managed to win two 25Ks, beating Anne Keothavong in 3 sets in the Redding final and winning a title in Spain (beating Rebecca Llewellyn and Amanda Keen along the way). She also made a 25K quarter-final in Tenerife where she was beaten by Mel South in 3 sets.

She'd be out of the top ten had she had the guts to play with the better girls. Most of her points come from the high profile tournaments in South and Central America where even the draws don't get filled...
Any idea what time either of these matches will start?

John....Katie is on court now....should start anytime. You can watch her progress on the Vegas "live scores" right now. It looks like she is to serve first.
This is one long warm up....I wonder if the scoreboard is down or maybe they are having a sand storm in Vegas or something.....really long warm up going on....
In fact...I am sure it is the scoreboard....the Moodie match has been on the same score for a couple of minutes....
Prob check back in a mo and Katie is a break up....I think she will win this one....
