I wouldn't mind Youzhny winning his semi final tomorrow.
It would take him above Baghdatis into WR17, and with it a place in the 13-16 seed bracket at Indian Wells (Ancic is reportedly out for 2 months with Glandular Fever). Players in the 13-16 bracket (hopefully Andy and Youzhny) would play players in the 17-24 bracket (Baghdatis, Nieminen, Tursunov etc) in the round of 32. And on current form you would want to avoid Youzhny.
One more withdrawal from the top 12 players would see Andy into the 9-12 bracket, playing players in the 25-32 bracket in the round of 32, players in the 5-8 bracket in the last 16 and only in the quarter finals would he meet a top 4 player!!
Seedings are usually done on the rankings of the week before the tournament starts, but IW is an odd one as the main draw doesn't get started until next Friday. So which Monday's rankings are used? If it is this week's, Andy is no 13, but if it is next week's he is no 14. . .
I'm pretty sure the rankings used are the most up-to-date available, in which case Indian Wells would use the rankings of 5th March (this coming Monday).
As other draws are made on Sundays, or Saturdays, they have to use the previous week's rankings.
