RE: Andy's Competitors Week 9: Dubai etc..

Djokovic broke to lead 5-3 second set, however Vliegen has just broken back (on his third chance and third look at a second serve!!)
Djokovic leads 5-4 on serve, Vliegen by one set to love.

Vliegen got broken to 15 in his next service game to even up the match at one set all. :(

Baggy is giving Nadal a bit of a beating. He's up a set and it's on serve in the second but he has been in on every Nadal service game. Rafa's starting to up his level a little now but the forehand is still a wee bit dodgy. He;s just got the first break of the set to lead 2-1 though. Looks like he's not ready to give up all those points he won here last year just yet.

Nole has just broken Vliegen again to go *5-3 up.

Kinda expected him to win today but with Vliegen taking the early lead in the final set I was hoping he would hold it. Never mind - Fed will take care of business when they meet anyway. There doesn't seem to be much that Roger enjoys more at the moment than giving Djokovic a good beating on the court.

Rafa has broken to lead 3-1 in the third. He looks great at the moment. He's also being really agressive by playing a lot at the net as well which is good to see. He looks a class above Baggy at the moment.

Rafa closed it out 6-3,  which means that all of Andy's competitors have now played their matches, so.....

...the updated table is posted here (on Britishtennis.net)

And, great news for Andy's ranking, it's a sea of red: With Ferrer and Baghdatis both out, only Djokovic can still overtake.

Unfortunately, all he has to do is to beat Rainer Schuettler in round 2

Nieminen
also went out.

Edit: Schuettler, not Seppi plays Nole

Mikhail will be a threat soon if he keeps up this form. But for now, Davai!

Although I didn't see him onthe OOP, Djokovic is on court now, playing Schuettler. It's with serve right now.   Can Rainer bring back the memories of his glory days?

Schuettler 2* - 3 Djokovic

Youzhny 4*- 5 Berdych

Nole was a minibreak down in the tie- break at 4-5*, then won the next 3 points to get the first set.

Schuettler 6-7 1-0 Djokovic
Youzhny 7-6 2-2 Berdych
