Flanagan and Rushby should have made the main draw.
Qualifying has 4 rounds.

Vlad is 15 and has only ever played 5 matches in Futures qualifying, all on clay last summer, but he has won two of them against unranked opponents. He has been double bagelled once too, but I don't see Robert taking a set off him. Maybe 8 games ...

Yeah, I reckon Dee might finally pick up the win this week.

At least Ed Corrie and Kennaugh got through, Robert Dee did OK, taking 5 games. The win is going to come soon I can feel it.

What a strange coincidence. I know it wasn't me who posted the wrong result for that match here, but although I posted the correct result on another site, I didn't include him in the R2 matches on either site. The shock of seeing a Brit with just one ranking point winning a match 3 & 0 must have addled both our minds.

However, the bad news is that lots of British progress in this tournament seems unlikely. According to Slabba, the courts are slow and low bouncing. They're in nice condition but don't suit our players particularly well as they find it hard to penetrate during the rallies. There are lots of Spanish grinders out there, who are very tricky to beat on that surface.

Slabba shouldn't have too many problems against Van Mele who has only ever qualified for a couple of futures and lost 6-4, 7-5 to Alex's friend Ed Seator on Dutch clay last year.
Kennaugh's match may seem more tricky than it appears on paper as his Spanish opponent is probably one of these grinders who are perfectly suited to these courts with their defensive baseline games. They can stay out there rallying all day and Kennaugh doesn't have particularly big shots from the back.
