I think we've got a good chance of winning possibly 8 medals in this event.
Pickering and Gardener are the two fastest in Europe in the mens 60 so we're looking at 2 from them, hopefully a gold for one of them. There's some French dude who's pretty good but apart from him (and he hasn't run under 6.60 this season) I don't think there's many other big threats.
Mo Farah is one of the favourites for the 3,000, won impressively at the weekend in the Norwich Union. Andy Turner's 2nd fastest in Europe in the 60m hurdles at the moment, he's someone who's improved so much over the past couple of years. Once Colin Jackson retired I thought we'd have to wait till the next generation for a medal prospect over the high hurdles but now Turner's come through. OK he's nowhere near the elite guys but will be in with a shot in the Europeans and Commonweaths (possibly the world indoors too).
Martyn Bernard could be an outside chance for a medal in the high jump. He came from nowhere to jump 2.30m and take silver at the Commonwealths last year, but I haven't heard of him since !
Douglas and Idowu are both very good medal chances in the triple jump. Douglas should get one, possibly gold if he copes with the pressure even if Olsson is competing. Does anyone know if Olsson is planning to compete ? Who knows with Idowu, best not to expect anything from him as whenever he's been hyped up to do big things he usually doesn't deliver.
Nicola Sanders has been running really well, broke the British indoor record for 400m. She's in with a chance. Is she the girl who keeps switching from 400 to 400 hurdles and back again ?
Jo Pavey is one of the favourite's for the 3000m. Hope she gets a gold, she really deserves one, has just missed out on medals so many times.
Are Kluft and Barber competing in the pentathlon ? If not Ennis and Sotherton should be the two big favourites for the gold.
I don't know why Dean Macey doesn't go for some of the indoor pentathlons, it'd be a great chance to add to his solitary gold as in all the outdoor games apart from the commonwealths, the best decathletes in the world are there.
I'll write a bit on it if i have some time later on...and yeah Nicola is the girl who switches between the two, a bit like Lee McConnell but she's better than the Scot because she's got better technique (McConnell, leads with her highjump form)

Who?
ultimateshedman wrote: Yeah, I guess it isn't a particularly big sport in India. What's your 2nd biggest sport after cricket ?
Probably a tie between hocky and footie. We were the best hockey team in the world by quite a margin once upon a time. Now we do nothing.
I'm not into hockey though. Used to play it everyday when I was seven or eight, but sort of moved away from it after that...
Lol, we need to enlighten you on athletics Arky. Sotherton's been one of the top 5 heptathletes for the past 4 years. She's also the hottest heptathlete I've seen.
I'm amazed that football is so popular in India ? Is it because of Beckham ? I wonder why India don't have a better national team
Are you guys pretty good at table tennis and badminton ?

No surprises there
How long will it be before we're cheering on you in the 1500 in these games, mkk ?
I look forward to reading it. Tbh, I don't know why Sanders doesn't specialise in the 400 hurdles as she's got such speed over the flat which gives her a big advantage over so many of the others. It must disrupt her training, constantly switching between events from 1 games to another.
I think that Lee McConnell made a massive error in switching to the 400 hurdles, nowhere near as good as she was over the 400 flat
