Boggo, Richard, Josh and Greg's Rankings Week 8: Besancon, B. Aires etc..

The new table is posted here (on Britishtennis.net)

As Alex is already out of action, I extended his table down, and realised that it joined up with Bloomers' table. So we now have a mega - "the next four" table.  Let me know if this works for you, or if it's too unwieldy.

Boggo starts the week up one at 150, as Montcourt drops behind him. Richard is up two at 185 as Faurel and Ghem defend points. Greg is up 3 to 210 as Josh, Crivoi and Clatrava drop, and Josh is down seven as the GB Satellite points finally come off his ranking.

It's going to be hard for Boggo to hold onto that gain, though as there are six players in ATP events within 52 points of him.

The updated table is posted here (on Britishtennis.net)

Bloomers is out

Imoen has also pointed out that Greg is defending 25 points from Rotterdam last year, and so drops 27 places, behind Jamie Baker to 240 , just ahead of Jonny Marray. Jamie Baker will be the new British number 6. It seemed sensible to extend the table down here, so the job's just got even more mammoth, Bethan!

Jamie B starts the week up 4 to 235, as Rusedski, Tourte, Kindlmann and Saulnier defend points. Jonny was also up 4 to 241, as Kindlmann, Saulnier, Azzaro and Mackin drop back.  Alan himself would have been on this table, but is defending a massive 29 points from the GB Satellite last year, and drops 31 places to 273.

Yesterday, Roger- Vasselin qualified for Besanco, and overtook Jonny, knocking him back to 242

Behind Boggo,  Gil, Haase and Kuznetsov advance to within a win of overtaking in Besancon, Rotterdam and Memphis respectively. Carlsen  also advanced.
Karanusic, Zabaleta, Mertinak and Gremelmayer  were all knocked out.

Stakhovsky advanced to within a win of overtaking Richard . His threats, Witten and Brzezicki were knocked out

Ascione takes a step up from futures competitions and advances to match Josh on points in Besancon Haehnel also advances

For Alex:

As we speak, Guez is serving for the match against closer Boggo threat Ouahab

Today, in Besancon, Boggo threat Luzzi plays Bloomers threat Stakhovsky.  Stakhovsky will overtake if he wins. Warburg plays Gulbis, Cilic plays Sanguinetti.

In BA, this evening, Guzman plays his elimination round against Canas, and will overtake if he wins

For Richard:

Apart from Stakhovsky, Soeda plays Lacko in Besancon. The winner will advance to within a match of overtaking.

For Josh:

Haehnel  plays Chardy and  Tsonga plays Millot in Besancon. Again, if they win, they advance to within a win.

For Jamie:
Stoppini plays Giraldo as the highest seed in the Italy F2 futures.

For Jamie and Greg:
Roger-Vasselin plays Navarro- Pastor in Besancon, and will overtake them both if he wins.

For Jonny, Greg and Jamie:
Azzaro plays Van Der Valk, in Italy F2.

Popp plays Masson in Exmouth,

Nah, I was always going to go down that far so the job remains as mammoth as it was before!

I've got a few more things to get out the way (why does the University expect me to work, I'm sure that's not what students are supposed to do all day?!) so should sit down to tackle it in about half an hour.

Greg's going to drop out of the British top 10 if he's not careful.

ok, the What if post.

Firstly a couple of things to mention. 1) My table only goes down to 250 so they may be a few players who can overtake from below that range. 2) I'm ignoring futures results, both futures being played this week and points from last week that haven't gone of so I may miss a few players that way as well.

Alex Bogdanovic: Has 289 points. Starts the week at 149 (+1). Can be overtaken by: Ram (sf M), Soeda (W Bes), Stakhovsky (W Bes), Warburg (W Bes), Cilic (W Bes), Guez (F Bes), Ouahab (F Bes), Kuznetsov (qf M), Carlsen (sf Bes), Capdeville (rd2 M), Montcourt (qf Bes), Luzzi (qf Bes), Guzman (RR BA), Haase (qf R), Gil (qf Bes).
Best case: 149(+1)
Worst case: 160 (-10) [not looked at the draws in detail so could be wrong]

Richard Bloomfield: Has 217 points. Starts the week at 185 (+2). Can be overtaken by: Roger-Vasselin (F Bes), Tsonga (F Bes), Haehnel (F Bes), Ascione (F Bes), Faurel (qf Bes), Lacko (qf Bes), Ram (rd2 M), Soeda (rd2 Bes), Stakhovsky (rd2 Bes).
Best case: 185(+2)
Worst case: 192(-5)

Joshua Goodall: Has 184 points. Starts the week at 217 (-6). Can be overtaken by: Roger-Vasselin (sf Bes), Tsonga (qf Bes), Haehnel (qf Bes), Asionce (qf Bes).
Best case: 217 (-6)
Worst case: 221 (-10)

Jamie Baker, Alan Mackin and Greg Rusedski: Have 167, 166, 164 points respectively. Start the week at 235(+2), 238 (+2), 240(-27) respectively. Can all be overtaken by Roger-Vasselin (rd2 Bes).
Could also be overtaken by other people that I don't know about because I've run out of table. (Rob how far down do you go? Have I missed any obvious ones?)
Best cases: 235(+2), 238 (+2), 240 (-27)
Worst cases: 236(+1), 239(+1), 241 (-28) [maybe].

Jonny Marray: Has 163 points. Starts the week at 243(+2)
No one on my table can overtake him...

Fnaar Fnaar.....  My table goes down to 275.   the only obvious ones would be:

Popp (GB F4 this week. 12 points from GB F3 last week); Stoppini & Azzaro: Italy F2 this week), Chardy at Besancon, Niemayer at Besancon.

Stakhovski beat Luzzi  and knocks Richard down to 186.

Lacko beat Soeda, and is now just 5 behind him .

Tsonga beat Millot, and is now just 5 behind Josh

Chardy beat Haehnel, so that's one less threat to Josh

The updated table is posted here (on Britishtennis.net)

Some good news: I'd missed points that Arthurs was defending, which puts him behind Boggo, and points that Saulnier was defending, which put him behind Jamie.

A good day for Boggo: both his Buenos Aires threats are out: Guzman and Luzzi

Roger- Vasselin caused the shock of the Besancon tournament by beating Navarro- Pastor, and so overtaking Greg and Jamie Greg down to 240, Jamie to 235.

Tomorrow, in Besancon:

Gil
plays Lacko . Gill will overtake Boggo if he wins; Lacko will overtake Richard if he wins

Ascione plays Eysseric, and overtakes Josh if he wins

Faurel plays his R1 match with Mahut, to go within a win of Richard; Montcourt plays his with Niemayer, to go within a win of Alex.

Carlsen plays Peya, to go within a win of Boggo.

I make Jamie down to 236 (and Greg 241) So one of us has something wrong.... Either way can't believe Roger-Vassilen did that. Nasty Man

Hmm - have you got Saulnier dropping behind Jamie & Greg?

In Besancon, this morning, Gil beat Lacko and overtakes Alex - knocking him down to WR 150 again The only positive being that Lacko didn't overtake Bloomers

Thank God that Ascione won! If Eysseric reached the quarters, it would put him far ahead of all the other 1990 born players.
