Unfortunately Baker has already lost the first set 6-1

That's a shame, in both of their matches Jamie has got off to very slow starts, losing the 1st set 6-1. Russell is really really consistent and hard to break down so maybe each time it's taken Jamie a while to find a way to break him down.
Good to see that once he's got into the match it's been very close. Another excellent week for him, some fabulous wins especially that one over Bozoljac and up to a new career high ranking of approx 234. The start he's had to 2007 will surely have given him a lot of confidence that he can move up into the top 150 and beyond this year. It's also impressive that he's achieved these results on the US challenger circuit, which is said to be the toughest.
He was planning to play Memphis qualies this weekend, I wonder whether he'll be able to make it there for the sign-in. Hopefully they'll let him sign-in by phone...a lot of them do.
Craig, if you speak to Jamie, maybe you can ask him whether he's playing Memphis ?
Talked to JB about 30 mintues ago. He was very pleased with the way he played in the second set. Got down a break, came back and put forth a very nice effort. He said if he was going to lose, it was going to be on "his terms, not Russell's". Jamie said both players were very solid off the ground in the second and it came down to a few key points in the breaker. After the match he said he had no regrets and that he and his coach Keith were happy with the week and have seen nice improvements in the last month. He'll be in the top 200 before long. He has a 6am flight and from what I understood, heading to Memphis. I talked to him while my wife and I were out eating dinner....she loves when I take calls from friends/players during a night out. I'll keep you guys posted in the next few days on his US tour.
