We've got a thread for this in the mens section, how about some predictions for the women players ?

I'll post mine a bit later

Meh, to be honest I expect more of the same. Players dotting around the 150-300 mark with the occasional big week but mostly struggling. Hopefully Baltacha will get herself back in the top 200 ready for a big push next year, and Naomi will join her there.

Mel South will be ranked around 135.
Jade Curtis will get into the top 450.

I would be surprised if Anne K got into the top 100. She just doesn't seem to get the results that would back that up.

I'm inclined to agree about Mel South, though. I've saw her play last year against a solid top-200 player and she was utterly outclassed. Of course, a couple of weeks later she beat a top-20 player, but I don't think she'll get much higher than she is now - I hope I'm wrong!

Is Windley that good?

She will play just twelve or thirteen more events this year and is ranked outside the top 1000. Do you think that she'll improve so much so soon?

WOULD LOVE TO SEE KEOTHAVONG MAKE TOP 100 BUT DON'T SOMEHOW SEE IT HAPPENING.

KEOTHAVONG AROUND 140

SOUTH/O'BRIEN 160 - 180

STOOP AND CAVADAY TO BOTH MAKE TOP 200.

STILL DON'T SEE ANYONE WHO COULD DO A ANDY MURRAY FOR US IN THE WOMENS GAME. IF ONLY WE COULD GET SOMEBODY

On her day, Windley is capable of beating top 500 players but I agree with Arka, top 400 is a bit too ambitious. I think a good aim for her by the end of this year is a ranking in the 700s...

I'm not sure whether Anne will break top 100, she needs to do a lot better consistently in the 50Ks and 75Ks and also take some of her chances in WTAs eg Indian Wells which was a big missed opportunity. Atm, she doesn't get enough wins against top 150 players, her record against them in the past year is quite poor.

I think Naomi will be top 150....Georgie top 200 I agree with - my initial prediction of top 150 for her may have been a little ambitious.

Warburton has a lot of work on her game to do to make top 600...the raw material's there and she's got the potential to be top 500 but she misses far too many of her mid-court and short balls, often unable to finish off rallies which she's dominated. I'm not sure why this is...maybe partly hitting a bit too flat and also poor shot selection

I think South will drop but I doubt it'll be as far as 300....maybe to about 250ish

There are a lot of very talented British players coming through atm who have the potential to be top 100. Naomi Cavaday is the big hope and I think she could be top 50...it's very hard to say whether a player's going to make it to the very top of the game and be challenging for major titles. When Murray made his breakthrough in 2005, most people thought top 50, don't think many would have thought he'd be top 10 within 2 years.

After Naomi...there's Georgie Stoop, Anna Smith, Natasha Khan, Anna Fitzpatrick...all of whom will surely be top 200, top 250...hard to say at this point exactly how far they can go, until you see how their games match up against top 150 and top 100 opposition. Hopefully we'll get to see that with Georgie this summer. I think Anna F is the LTA's biggest hope out of those 4, everyone I've spoken to rates her v highly.

After those players we've got lots of talented juniors aged 15-16: Jocelyn Rae, Jade Windley, Laura Slater, Yasmin Clarke, Naomi Broady, Steph Cornish etc
