Paterson bt Harmsen 6-2 6-3

QF opponent is Mandy Minella of LUXembourg. Seeded 3 and ranked 343 to Karen's 416.

Hopefully this run should see Karen into the top 400. Another win would probably cement it!

Great couple of wins for Karen    Her career best is 369 from October 2005, was top 400 last autumn before some points fell off. She's hoping to get into the top 300 by Wimbledon,  tough ask but the way she's playing at the moment, it's definately possible. Her game seems to have moved up a notch in the last 6 months. Before that she seemed to have plateaued about the 400 mark.

The Luxembourg girl she's playing today has just returned from a 9 month injury layoff, she's a clay-court specialist and had made two consecutive 25K finals before injury struck last May. Not been at her best so far, only just beat a Swiss qualifier 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 in rd2.

Anna Smith must be gutted, to lose in that way must be hard to take, goodness knows how many match points she had in that 3rd set. I can imagine Silva must be tough to play on slow courts, she anticipates so well.

Such a close match...I think Karen will move up to the brink of the top 400 now.

Not sure what her plans are now schedule-wise, she's not entered anywhere this week
