Richard and Greg and Josh's ranking and competitors, week 7

The table is posted here (on britishtennis.net)

Just Josh playing this week (No Bloomers???).

Greg dives 9 places to 209 as his 15 points from Marseille last year come off.

Richard climbs 2 places to 185, as Warburg and Witten drop below him.

Josh climbs 3, as Armando, Luczak and Cakl drop below him: Can he rise above Greg this week???

I'm surprised Bloomers didn't go for Marseille qualifying, but even more suprised that there's any doubt about whether Josh will overtake Greg, since I think it's a sure thing.

I make it that Greg's going to drop to 189 points, not 190, because he doesn't have 18 counting tournaments at the moment, so his 18th/19th are 0/0 not 1/1 as shown on your table.

Also, Josh has 190 points at the moment, not 184, and I can't have missed some points dropping off for him because he was in the middle of a Satellite this time last year.

So I think Josh is sure to be at least 1 point ahead of Greg at the end of this week.

(I remain very impressed that only the odd error creeps in, given how many players you are keeping track of here! )

re the Josh points - the ATP had his Satellite points dated 30th Jan, so I'd assumed they came off a week late, in the same way that futures points do. Looking at this morning's ATP rankings, they've not come off after all.

Which week do you reckon they'll disappear? It's obviously important for Alan & Jamie B as well.

Re greg - thanks - with the ATP database not working at the moment I couldn't check his 18th 19th etc... On the other hand I should have known them

Hmm - curiouser and curiouser: Jamie Baker's points from the satellite have come off - he's lost 11 points to go down to 144. Wheras Alan's 29 points have yet to come off...

Did Jamie qualify for the fourth week masters? could it be that that week comes off later than the points for those who didn't make the final week? (pure stab in the dark but thought I'd throw it out there anyway)

thart could be it: a quick look on steveg at the fourth week of the satellite doesn't show Jamie there.  That would mean that the points would have been added for w/c 20th Jan, and so they're defending them next week.

The updated table is posted here (on britishtennis.net)

Updated, to show Josh not losing his satellite points yet, and overtaking Greg to become British number 5!!  Now we need some decent points from Joplin to help him stay there.

Fognini, Andujar and Junquera get knocked out of Costa do Sauipe qualies Ascione and Echagary won their futures titles in France & Mexico, and advance

Even more strange: steveg http://stevegtennis.com/thisweek+.htm show the points for that satellite not due to come off until 26 February (presumably at the end of the 4 weeks).

Don't understand why Jamie B has been treated differently.

Steven's very kindly pointed out that Jamie's points were from the Burnie Challenger and not the Satellite last year...meanwhile the ATP database is back online, and we can stop floundering quite so much

Ah right, I didn't know where Jamie's points were from. So, Josh's points should stay on until 26 February, then.

Oh lor it gets so complicated down in these lower regions!

Yes, that's right. The dates on the ATP best 18 lists are the start of the relevant tournament or series, so ATP/Challenger points come off a week later, Futures 2 weeks later and Sats 4 weeks later than the dates shown.

However, last year the points for the Feb GB Sat went on a week later than they were supposed to (theory: LTA are so slow that they didn't get the points to the ATP on time) so it's hard to tell whether they'll come off on 26 Feb or on 5 Mar.

Updated for Josh's exit.:furious: Andujar qualifies for Costa do Sauipe and overtakes both Greg and Josh

Dutra- Silva
gets a wildcard in Brazil, and gets knocked out by Devilder.

Junquera, Fognini and Eitzinger  don't make it through CDS qualifying :smile

Stakhovsky qualifies for San Jose, and lines up with Warburg right behind Richard.

Odesnik's also out of Joplin.

A 'what if' post for these guys will appear sometime tomorrow morning. I would do it now but I fear I would make A LOT of mistakes!

Also, anyone know who's playing in the futures (above 250 in the rankings) as that could affect what can happen to our boys.

The updated table is posted here (on britishtennis.net)

Warburg advances in San Jose, and knocks Richard down to 186.
Kuznetsov advances in Joplin, as does Jones who is now just 1 point behind Greg and 2 behind Josh

Better news sees Armando and Reynolds join Odesnik and Josh on the sidelines in Joplin.
