RE: Tim's competitors: Week 7: Marseille, San Jose etc..

What if?...post round1 and bits of round 2

In case you hadn't noticed, Tim isn't playing this week. A maximum of 4 players could overtake him they are: Gicquel (sf of M), Bjorkman (sf of M),
Becker (w in S), Lee (w in S).
Best case: 38(+1)
Worst case: 42(-3)

Gicquel went out to Gasquet, so that's a new worst case of 41 (-2)

Lee  is on court now in San Jose.

The updated table is posted here (on britishtennis.net)

Becker advances, as does Simon onto the foot of the table  Lee, Bjorkman and Benneteau are knocked out

Today, Smon pla
ys Soderling in Marseille.

Tonight, Becker
plays Karlovic in San Jose. Chela plays his QF against Monaco in CdS.

I make it that Becker is the only player left who can overtake Tim, and he'll need to win the tournament.

Yeah I make Becker the only one able to overtake as well and he has to get past the BFG and then either Roddick or Murray. I think Tim should be safe now, as even if Becker gets to the finals he really shouldn't win against either of those two!
