Oh, I forgot to mention, Andyis playing Pless.....Who's playing Jamie in doubles later that night (what have the organisers got against Danish tennis players?)
Alors, Arnaud! did you have too much Bouillabaise last night? Time to whistle the Marseillaise to yourself, and repel the Spanish invader! Liberte! Egalite! Fraternite!
The updated table is posted here (On britishtennis.net)
So, no- one advances, as 18th/19th scores are waay too high at this altitude. Stepanek and Ancic are now out of action.
Today in Marseilles, Ferrer plays Tim threat Benneteau, but if he wins, will advance high enough that Andy would need to win San Jose to overtake; Gasquet plays another Tim threat Gicquel, but if he wins, is still within Andy's reach should he make the final. Baghdatis plays Saulnier - can Cyril become the latest lowly- ranked Frenchman to cause an upset? Nieminen plays Mahut.
Now Ferrer's down 4-0 in the third?? Either Benneteau's found a sixth gear from no- where or Ferrer's had some of that dodgy Bouillabaise, annd should probably retire before being bagelled again...
It ended 4-6 6-0 6-1. Ferrer's out - that's the top 5 seeds out before the quarter finals. Good news for Andy's ranking chances: he can now overtake Ferrer if he makes the final in San Jose.
