Fitzpatrick/Veselinovic vs Hock/Srndovic (winners face South/Cirstea)
Mel plays with her Romanian friend. They won some titles together in SPain last year. Hopefully pick up where they left off!
I tihnk Anna's partner is her buddy from Monte Carlo Tennis Academy. Hope they can win. Their opponents are ranked higher but hopefully Anna and friend know each others game better and can perform better as a partnership.
Thanks for posting the draws Johnnylad. Good luck to all our girlys in Stockholm hoping for some upsets from those ranked lower and some predictable wins from those ranked higher!

Slightly off topic but not sure where to ask this. Where did Claire Curran go? She came back for a tournament and now seems to have disappeared again is she on the entry lists (for doubles) anytime soon?

No idea, there aren't any doubles entry lists unfortunately. I'm surprised she hasn't been in action for the last two weeks.
Regarding round 1 results so far.....good to see Mel winning again, she's had a tough start to the year, been close in several matches but this was her first win since November !
She played France's Irina Pavlovic in rd2 earlier today. Pavlovic is a tall, heavy-hitting player with a big serve. In particular, her single-handed backhand is a very effective weapon. She's of the Lindsay Davenport style build and isn't the best of movers around the court so Mel will have needed to keep her on the run. If she got drawn into a hitting match she will have been blasted off the court..
Amanda's loss was very disappointing, I thought she'd do well here, the indoor carpet is very fast and suits her game style. She hasn't been playing very well lately, was in poor form in Sutton and Tipton - her losses to Tamaela and Ruutel were fairly routine Think she's taking a week off before playing Minsk 25K. Hopefully a turnaround in form for her soon
It was a tough draw for Sarah, Pichet's been top 150 and won the Belfort 25K a couple of weeks ago, that result was pretty much expected Incidentally, Sarah was actually born in Canada
I saw Pavlovic at Sutton and was impressed by her game but even so she's ranked almost 200 places below Mel, it's the sort of match that Mel really needs to be winning. Since last August Mel's results have been quite disappointing apart from a couple of 25K quarters.
I think Mel joins Boggo and Josh in the "Bad Start to 07" brigade.
Can anyone think of anyone else who deserves a place in this illustrious team (injuries notwithstanding - bit unfair to include Tim and/or Greg)? There's a handful in the "Good Start" bunch (Baker, Windley, Khan maybe), but I suppose most players are pretty-much par.
