Anna Fitzpatrick is seeded 9th in the qualies. She faces Latvia's Liene Linina in round 1. This will be Linina's first match of 2007. She's ranked 1382, 700 places below Anna and given Anna's current form Linina shouldn't pose too many problems.

In the final qualifying round Anna is likely to face Spanish 3rd seed Silvia Soler-Espinova (wr: 432). That would be on Monday. There are just 2 qualies rounds

Of course not, she can only play 3 more tournaments before her 18th birthday. She'll probably play the Spanish 25Ks.

that's quite a long time to be unable to play more than 3 tournaments. I hope she and those helping her choose those tournaments carefully as three first round exits would be damaging rankingwise and massively frustrating for both Naomi and her supporters.

Agreed.
She should play a few big Junior events so that she is able to get a seeding at Roland Garros Juniors. And that'll give her practice in the absence of 25Ks.

I agree, she's an excellent clay court player aswell so she should play some of the G1s on that.
Given that she'll be in action for 3 of the Spanish 25Ks from March-April, what are the big junior events between now and 24th April which she could play ?

A bit of a shocker for Spanna in the first qualifying round:

L Linina (Lat) bt A Fitzpatrick (GB) 7-6(3), 6-2

I think that result's probably down to the courts in Stockholm, the indoor carpet there must be lightning fast  or something and Anna will have only been there for a couple of days to get used to it. If this match had been on indoor acrylic in GB, she would have won in straights for sure.

Not entered for any tourneys next week, I wonder whether she'll try and qualify for the 10K in Germany.

Panda/Jamatthews; how many tournaments can Anna play before her 18th birthday ?

The 25Ks are in March, so she may opt for Juniors only in April.

2nd April - G1 in Japan on carpet.
4th April - G2 in Italy on clay.
9th April - G2 in France on clay.
9th April - G1 in the US on hard.
16th April - G2 in France on clay.
23rd April - G1 in France on clay.

Going to Asia or the US is unlikely (near impossible).
I guess that she'll play on European clay. She defends a mountain of points in that period and if she doesn't play then she may as well as quit Juniors totally.

Jamatthews can correct me if I am wrong....
Anna can play fifteen tournaments in her 18th year and she has used up eleven of those. So just four more between now and 5th April.

It's not a certainty that she's going to Spain, that's just the most logical place for her to go. If she gets her WTA ranking up into the top 300 then she'll almost certainly be seeded for junior events so she won't need to worry about defending junior points.

Ahh... right.
In any case, the 25Ks in Spain don't clash with much of the European Junior clay season.

Main draw - Mel South, Amanda Keen and Sarah Coles

(356) Coles vs Virginie Pichet (199) (Fra) (4th seed)      Tough draw

(229) (5th seed) Amanda Keen vs Korina Perkovic (GER) (386) Good draw

(172) (3rd seed) Mel South vs (WC) Aleksandra Srndovic (SWE) (409) Good draw

Great chance to go deep for Amanda and Mel. Can't see Sarah winning against Pichet.
