Fantastic result for Natasha! Several brits have made pretty unauspicious starts to the year, but Natasha Khan is showing early signs that she may be one of the stand-out players of 07.
Fantastic couple of results for Natasha She's really taken full advantage of this lucky loser place. Several career bests for her too, the round 1 win was her 2nd best ever victory, this is her 25K quarter-final and she's now guaranteed to move up to a career high ranking of 456.
Amazing! She'll be shooting up the rankings if she can keep up this form. Here's hoping she's settling at her level and not just "in the zone" temporarily.
I hereby withdraw the "maybe" from my post in the Stockholm thread.
I'm told that the big difference in the last 6 months is that she's playing with more belief and also moving up the court a lot more, looking to finish things at the net
RedCabbage, did you see Natasha in Eastbourne last summer ?
No, Shed, I didn't see Natasha at Eastbourne. In fact, I don't even remember her being there (unless she was a MD WC....not unlikely given her geographical proximity to Eastbourne...I certainly don't recall her being in quals). The only brits I saw in action were Mel South (who was rather humiliated by Brandi), Jane O'Donoghue, Sarah Borwell (the only one to win iirc) and Geogie Stoop (in passing). Anne K was effing and blinding on the practice courts :)
Another brilliant win for Natasha today, converting the form and promise she showed in Sutton and Tipton into ranking points These wins will surely give her loads of confidence that she can beat players at this level.
She'll now move up to 429
I think that the semi against Meusburger may be a match too far though. The Austrian knocked out Urzsula Radwanska in the quarters and has a career high of 112 reached earlier this month. In 2006 she qualified for the Aussie Open, made three 25K finals, a 50K final and a 75K semi. She's continued that form this year, qualified for WTA Auckland and beat world no 88 Ekaterina Bychkova in rd1 before losing to Camille Pin in 3 sets. At the beginning of Feb she made a 75K quarter-final.

You should get to see her this year, if she keeps up this form she's got a very good chance of getting a qualies wildcard.
Lol @ Anne. The guy reporting on the matches in St Paul this week said that she tends to get a little het up
Speaking after her quarter-final win Natasha said “I’m very happy with my game this week. I played an unbelievable first round and my confidence has grown from there. ’m serving really well and if I can keep playing as aggressively as I have been, I know I have a good shot of winning this tournament."
Meusburger was always going to be a bit too tough, Natasha's not quite at the level yet where she can beat top 150 players. Don't think it will be long though with the game she's got.
Will move up to 429 approx, great week's work !
She's not playing anywhere this week, had planned to compete in the Portimao 10K but she withdrew
