Amusing, and very well constructed - good to see the guys playing along, but I am not sure what it is trying to say. Has there been some controversy that I missed about tennis being scripted, or the results being fixed?
Fraser wins the best actor award at the Golden Racquet
Absolutely agree with him. I may not like how the script has been going for Andy this year but he should absolutely finish on his terms, how and when he wants to.
In spite of his often spur of the moment comments it has long been clear that he just loves competing, something very much underestimated by many over the years, including on here. He'll be happy to retire to his family has been said. No said I
Yes, recently has been the clearest indication yer that this really may be Andy's last year. But whatever you want, Andy., what you really really want ...
Totally agree with this. I find it really boring when people keep speculating on when someone is going to retire. I've even heard people say it about Emma on social media! Just because you've had previous greater success doesn't mean you can't enjoy just doing your job and your passion. The other thing is from a selfish point of view I bet he's a great role model for any other younger Brits coming through who get to watch him and maybe even hang out with him.
Just thinking about Andys schedule: potentially, it could be
Miami 2 weeks off Monte Carlo (would need a wild card) Munich (maybe play doubles here or Madrid if he fails to get into Monte Carlo) Madrid Rome Week off Roland Garros Surbiton (if exits RG early) Queens (maybe play doubles there, with Jamie?) Week off Wimbledon (would he play mens - Evo? - and or mixed doubles - Emma?). Week off Kitzbuhel (clay warm up?) or Umag Olympics (singles, doubles with Joe and mixed with Katie/Harriet? - emma wont qualify will she?)
And then if hes going for US Open
Canada (may just play one of the two masters events) Cinci Week off Flushing Meadow (and maybe one last doubles?)
Going to be a hectic last few months.

Is she? Her ranking would be way below getting in on singles, how would she qualify?
Emma could get in on an ITF place as a Grand Slam champion, although she could be in competition with Wozniacki and Halep, possibly others, for the 2 places available for Olympic Gold medal and GS winners. Or Sshe can also use her PR which might get her in as unused paces are reallocated. She does need to stay in the BJK cup squad to meet the eligibility requirements of being in the squad on 2 occasions in the Olympic cycle.

thanks Lambda - if there are more than two candidates for those ex GS and Olympic winners (would Venus be another candidate?) does it come down to rankings at the time of entry closing to determine who gets the two places?

No. Tie breaker is number of gold medals and grand slam singles titles and then ranking.

Ok, so Emma would be bottom of that little pile then? It feels like a slim chance for her?
