If indeed a slight ankle issue, given it was going to be his last tournament of the year, slight pity but I am much more in tune with the "good idea" than "gutted" twitter comment.

May he have a very good close season and start 2019 in the best shape that he's been in a long time.

Slight ankle issue is hopefully not underplaying something more serious.

Urgh, I know I should be happy and hopefully he is going to have a great 2019 but I just wanted a little bit more Andy.

Murray ending his season means his streak of 12 straight seasons with a title is over, tied for 6th best among men in Open Era.
15 - Nadal (active)/Federer
14 - Lendl
13 - Djokovic (active)/Connors

THe Times reporting that Andy has based himself (temporarily) in Philadelphia, so as to work with Bill Knowles, world-renowned reconditioning expert who also worked with Tiger Woods, Jonny Wilkinson and Mario Balotelli.

I saw that article.  It gives the impression that Knowles influenced Andy's decision to call time early on this season.  It also reports that he has been consulting Dr Bryan English, "a physician with Middlesbrough Football Club [my home town team] and formerly the medical director with Chelsea from 2004 to 2011".  It was apparently on Dr English's advice that Andy withdrew from Wimbledon in July.

Article on BBC about Murray's recovery programme (the focus is more on Bill Knowles, the reconditioning specialist that Andy is currently working with).

Great to see Andy Murray speaking up against sexism in sport after the *** comments of Solveig to Hederberg at the Ballon d'Or presentation yesterday:

'Why do women still have to put up with that s***? What questions did they ask Mbappe and Modric.

'I'd imagine it had something to do with football. And to everyone who thinks people are overreacting and it was just a joke It wasn't.

'I've been involved in sport my whole life and the level of sexism is unreal.'
