Andy Murray

Would rather him delay it for another few months (as a hypothetical) and come back when he's ready rather than do what Djokovic has done. His ranking is irrelevant at this stage, got to accept that when he does come back to the tour he will be facing top 16 players in the opening rounds of tournaments of bigger tournaments and likely in the fairly early stages of the smaller ones.

I am also of this opinion, although I miss seeing him play and from a selfish perspective feel it's been too long already.

Can't believe he's 31 now. Our boy is old.

They all are though - Rafa is 32, Djoko 31, Federer nearly 37. Even Del Potro and Cilic will be 30 soon.

Thank SC.

Acknowledgement from Judy that Andy's rehab has been longer than expected or liked. No mention of any particular setback but I did get the impression the vibes were rather better a couple of months or so ago with all looking more clearly on track.

Seeing what happened to Serena and Novak, I can't see him competing at Wimbledon without a warm up and given he is down to play one next week I am not hopeful of a return on grass. Maybe targeting the US Open would be better.

No great surprise. Hopefully indeed just a matter of running out of time after relatively little time back on the practice court again and that he is getting there.

For now at least he says "getting closer" and he is still "hoping" to make his comeback during the grass season.

If it takes a bit longer, even past the grass season, I'd say just then so be it. He seems very aware of looking long term.

Cant see Andy making grass court season now. I think hard Court beginning of August will be his comeback.

Still have my doubts that Andy will play at all this year, sadly.

He'll do pretty well to make my season end WR 1 prediction.

I havent really ruled out retirement altogether to be honest. I think if he doesnt think he can win Slams or return to the top 4 then he will quit. He has his young family, plenty of business interests and a pile of cash behind him, not that the last means a lot to him.

I wonder if we might see him dip his toe in the water with some doubles, it might help get some timing and match play and put less stress on the hip.

But i  do think we can kiss goodbye to grass.  5 sets is not a good way to come back to competition, we saw it with Stan W as well, needs a gentler introduction back in.
