There's a wee bit about Butorac in one of the American papers and he's apparently pretty confident that they'll get a WC. It's pretty good because apparently the Bryans have been bantering with him and Jamie about how they're the hottest doubles team in the world at the moment.
• Rochester native Eric Butorac, who played Division III tennis at Gustavus Adolphus, is quickly becoming a household name on the ATP doubles scene. Butorac and fellow lefty Jamie Murray teamed to win tournaments in Memphis and San Jose, Calif., in February. While they didn't get to play this past weekend in Las Vegas -- they hadn't received points for one of the tournaments they won by the time the Vegas tournament started -- Butorac said he is optimistic that the duo will get a wild-card entry into a $3.3 million event starting this week in Indian Wells, Calif.
Butorac has vaulted to a No. 42 world ranking in doubles; he and Murray went into last week as the No. 7 team in the doubles race this year.
"The Bryan brothers [Bob and Mike] saw us and said, 'Hey, it's the hottest team on the tour,' " Butorac said. "I guess if the No. 1 team is giving you a hard time, you're doing OK."
There's a fuller article with him from a few days ago about his move to doubles and how things have changed for him now. He also says that he might play doubles with Mardy Fish at Miami if him and Jamie can't get in themselves.
I have heard quite a few reports from people who i think know what they are talking about that Jamie Murray will be playing in the NPL finals (national premier leauge).....This event www.tennisnpl.co.uk has grown over the last 2 years and this year there is £14,000 prize money on offer for the winning team . The event 21-25 march 2007 at David lloyds club teeside, last year attracted top class players. Last year I had the oppotunity to watch the likes of Bloomfield, Flanagan, Jamie muuray, colin fleming, arvind parmer, Jonny marray and I even had a good chat with James Auckland. These were just a few names that I remember from last year. The event this year has attracted a lot more media attention than last year so if you look at the quality of players last year, surely this year the quality of players will be even higher. I am going to try and go to the event every day this year and im really looking forword to seeing the best players in GB, will be very interesting to see if Jamie Murray turns up this year, doubt it like considering the progress he has made over the last year.
I really hope they get the WC..with such a good run as a team it would be good for the tournament as well as for the individual players themselves. Bootie and Murray are hot doubles property right now.
Someone on Andymurray.com with "inside information" seems to be saying Butorac and Murray got a WC - and that "there'd be another team for us to support"....
