Boys: ITF Flevoland Junior Championships - ITF Grade 4 - 2007.

Starts from 21st Feb and is played on indoor hard.

This is one beast of a list! This should have been a Grade 2...

Main draw:

Marcus Willis, Neil Pauffley, Lewis Barnes.

Qualies:

Artim Kolpakov, Ahmed El Menshawy, Callum Lloyd, Jamie Whiteford, Charlie Buirski, Gary Chamberlain.

Good luck to Lewis out here. He is currently training in Amsterdam (where he is based) for this.

Arka, who are likely to be the biggest threats to the Brits here ?

Btw, has Ratty or anyone have you seen Marcus Willis play ?

If so, what do you make of his game ? Just wondering as he's had some great results in the past 6 months, would be interesting to know what game style he has

Frederic De Fays, I guess. He reached the quarters of a Futures on indoors when he was 15.

The top three seeds are ranked inside the top 100 and only Willis has beaten people of that level. Barnes can beat them if he plays properly.

Willis is big (6'3" I'd guess) and very solidly built (at least 14 stone). Decent serve. Good hands. Solid groundstrokes. Backhand better than forehand.

He's a bit like Hewitt in that he keeps the ball in play, doesn't really go for his shots much, and when he wins you sort of think "how did he do that?"

Thanks for the info Ratty Do you think that Willis will have to start going for his shots more and playing more aggressively to make a breakthrough on the mens tour ?

Panda bear, is the main draw for this event out yet ?

Barnes plays a WC in round one. Willis gets an unranked WC, but Pauffley gets the fourth seed.

Lol ratty said earlier that Willis was 'solidly built', i think the word tubby would be a better word. He's a very talented player with great hands but to be honest if he doesnt work on his fitness hes not got a chance at men's level...

He doesn't look fat here.

In any case, I hope that he'll work on his body. The results have been brilliant in the last six months.

Trust me, he's far from the finely tuned athletic machine that's required to make the grade. I hope so too though...

Maybe we should rename Willis: "The Tummy" ?

Only 1 result known so far today....

Lewis lost 6-3, 6-1 to some seeded Dutch dude ranked 112. He said that he played very badly, didn't like the courts which were very slow

He didn't lose to a Dutch dude. He lost to Frederic De Fays of Belgium, who's a great player and has already made the quarters of a 15K.

Better news is that Tubby has reached the quarters ! He beat Portugal's Miquel Alves (ranked 173 places lower at 340) 6-4, 6-2 in rd2.

Tubby now faces Belgium's David Goffin for a place in the last semis. Goffin caused a massive upset by knocking out the world no 64 (in juniors) and top seed Remi Groenendahl in rd1, 6-2, 7-6. Goffin is ranked 248 and has had a lot of success indoors so far this year. In Jan he reached the final of a G4 in Austria and the quarters of a G2 in Slovakia.
