Spain F5 - 10K

Morgan Phillips, Sean Thornley and Matt Illingworth are entered for the qualies.

Morgan picked up a groin strain a few weeks ago but it's fine now so he should be competing here. Sean Thornley probably won't be, he didn't play last week and he'd entered.

I wonder if Slabba will play qualifying here, he isn't in the qualies for the 10K+H in France. He really didn't like the courts in Austria as they were so slippy, he might have felt like competing on red clay where movement is easy and the slow pace suits his game. Otherwise, he's either injured or returned to Britain to prepare for Barnstaple.

No Slabba and no Phillips They must be back in Blighty preparing for Barnstaple.

Unfortunately this also probably means no qualifiers. However, Sean Thornley is competing, so will be interesting to see how he can do. The other big question of interest, can Dee get a set ? Came very close last week.

GB matches (rd1 qualies):

J Feaver (GB) v  J Dejuan-Mora (Esp) (wr:1500ish)

S Thornley (GB)  v   J Garrapiz-Borderias (Esp)(13) (wr: 915)

O Podlewski (GB)  v  A Fattar (Mar)(12) (wr: 852)

M Illingworth (GB)  v  C Rizzo (Ita)(wr: 1330)

R Dee (GB)  v   P Clar-Rossello (Esp)(wr:1113)

Hopefully Thornley will learn a lot from this trip. That's the whole point of playing qualies in foreign countries when you still aren't of age.

Morgan being so elusive is frustrating...

Sad he's not played much last few weeks coz he started the year really encouragingly!

He put up a good performance against his seeded opponent who is ranked in the 900s. Quite a close match, as you say hopefully he learns a lot from this, Spanish futures are the toughest to qualify from in the world.

I always feel sorry for Feaver. He seems to win a lot of sets in qualies but rarely a match!
