A very bad day for final sets amongst the Brits, I make that 3/3 lost. On the bright side the day only has a further 15mins so lets hope tomorrow 0/0 third sets are won because all the Brits win in two!

10 singles matches have been posted on the oop for tomorrow and Jamie isn't invovled in any of them so I guess there is no LL spot and I was infact clutching at straws.
@ those results. I hoped that Brits would win maybe 2 out od the 3, shows how wrong I was.
Hopefully a lucky loser spot might pop up at the last minute today and Jamie can get it. I'm not sure how things are working with lucky loser places in challengers and futures now, is it all done by random draw ?
I thought that Mackin's match would be tough. Rajeev Ram is 6t4, big serve and a serve-volleyer, a tricky player to face indoors. Made the Waikoloa quarters a couple of weeks ago. From the scores it appears that Mackin played two sloppy service games from 6-3, 5-5 and that cost him the match
Shame about Goodall's result aswell, just a couple of points in it in the end. However it shows that he's playing well and in pretty good form after the slightly shaky start to the year. Fleishman is one of those players who seems to have been ranked about the 150 mark for the past 4 years. He beat Boggo in straights in the States last year.
From watching the 2nd set highlights of Jamie Baker's match, it appears that he was too inconsistent against Sarstrand, lots of points where he's hanging his head after making a backhand or forehand error. Sarstrand also appears to have played a better match tactically, lots of points where he opens up the court by using the backhand slice to take Jamie out wide or heavy topspin to push him back behind the baseline. In the Niland match highlights, for most of the points Jamie is on the baseline and dictating play, stepping up the court and looking to get into the net to finish the point. Against Sarstrand, for most of the points he's about 2 feet behind the baseline and on the defensive....there are no points in which he's coming into the net.
All 3 players now head to Joplin for the 50K challenger next week. I don't think that any are going for ATP San Jose qualies.

Maybe in Granby or Binghampton challenger year before last
Yeah, Andy beat him 6-4, 6-2 in the Binghampton challenger final in 2005.
At that time he was one of the big hopes for American tennis, made a big ranking surge into the top 200, and got a US Open wildcard. However, he hasn't made the top 150 and is currently ranked 200ish. I don't think he's got the game to be top 100.
Just that Travis Parrott who normally plays with Butorac is here with Delic so Jamie must have persuaded him to swap
Jamie teamed up with Butorac for a few tournaments last summer, they made the ATP Los Angeles final together.
Tricky opener against Armando and Todd Widom. Hopefully Armando is totally exhausted from his efforts in Delray Beach. Widom's ranked 260, made 3 challenger finals last year so he's no slouch

Just shows how even being an elite junior doesn't mean senior success, Pless and Jeanpierre have both made top 100 but haven't been top 75 and have now slipped back into the 100s.
No, Fed was extremely successful in his 18s career right from the start. He reached the Aussie Open semis a few months before his Wimbly win and won a G2 at the age of 15! He became the world number 1 at the age of 17 and hence stopped his Juniors career there.
Pless would easily have been top 50 or better had he not had all those problems with injuries. I saw him play in Chennai against Nalbandian this year and he looked decent enough to win a title or two.
With Pless, his game's built around the big serve and forehand but the problem is that too many other players have those big weapons. He's a bit too variable from week to week aswell, I saw him in the autumn and he looked rather ordinary but a friend saw him in the GB challengers in autumn 2005 and said he was surprised that Pless wasn't ranked higher.
Was he making those peculiar grunting noises in the Nalbandian match ? It might not be noticeable unless you're courtside but the most weird sounds come out of the man when he hits the ball.
Btw, this may sound like a silly question but can anyone tell me where I need to plug the headphones in the back of my computer as I want to listen to that Jamie Baker interview on the Dallas site.
normally there a 3 little round holes at the back, with little symbols, 1 with a mircophone, one with head phones etc, if u cant see just go by trial and error, untill one give u sound.
*note to self, do not sit on headphones before, during or after use*
ps did u get my pm?
