Felix Gill and Jack Pinnington-Jones, our top two lads taking part in the European U16 championships a couple of weeks back and in the Summer Cup, are now in Ukraine. (I have always had a soft spot for Felix, although Jack P-J gets more attention, which might be appropriate as he is a year younger). Derrick Chen is also playing. 

Whichever, Felix starts off well, beating a French boy who has an adult ATP ranking of 1695.

R1: Felix GILL (GBR)     6-2 6-7(5) 6-2     Loris POURROY (FRA) [6]

Jack and Derrick play tomorrow.

 

Not so good for the girls:

R1: Eva PROKOPENKO (UKR)     6-1 6-3     Indianna SPINK (GBR)

Somewhat as expected, Felix came through but Jack is out. Derrick put up a decent show against the top seed too.
