Week 33 - British Tour - Sutton Premier

We've had a separate thread most years for the Tour Sutton Premier event because so many of our top players take part and the prize money is so important (the two facts being linked, of course). The winner also gets a wildcard into the main draw of an ITF event in the next 12 months (if needed).

This year the top four seeds are:

Eden Silva

Freya Christie

Ella Taylor

Victoria Allen

Also playing are Sasha Hill and other top juniors such as Destinee Matins, Danielle Daley, Erin Richardson, Alicia Dudeney and others...

There's also a woman's doubles table.

This is also one of the very few tournaments that runs a mixed doubles competition.

Eden and Freya are top seeds in the doubles, and only Ella partnering Olivia Elliott will give them any real opposition.

Eden is also too seed with Sean Hodkin in the mixed, with Olivia + Adam Jones seeded 2.

Will Eden do a clean sweep, or can Freya take the singles ? Matches start in Wednesday.

Good to see a thread for this event. I predict that Vic Allen and Danielle Daley will reaches the dubs final!

Am particularly pleased to see that three promising youngsters I like what I hear about have made the main draw: Jasmine Conway, Sonay Kartal and Alicia Dudeney

This is a great opportunity for some of the top juniors to showcase themselves and get some good match experience. Esther Adeshina, then 15,  won this event last year defeating Alicia Barnett en route before going on to defeat Eden Silva in the final. Would be interesting to see how the youngsters get on this year!

Yes, absolutely.

And such a shame that Esther has had major injury problems.

Do hope she's on the road to recovery......

Continuing to look at the yougnsters, little fave Sonay Kartal (2001) has beaten Kat Barnes (2001) 6-1 6-0

Aleksandra Topalovic (2000) also got a win, 6-2 6-2, against Abigail Amos

Of the three mentioned, Jasmine Conway (born Dec. 2004) did very well, too, to beat Eloise Saraty who has a nice game. Alicia Dudeney also won in two.

Of the other youngsters, Destinee Martins put up no real resistance to Ella. Sasha Hill walked it. LTA's pick, Amelia Rajecki, has no answers against Eden Silva. Young Holly Staff won. As did Olivia Elliott. And Vic Allen, Camille V-A and Jodie L-T

It strikes me that the strength of this field is very similar too, if not better than the recent Dublin 15k tournament.

Young Jasmine, age 13, did very well to beat sixth seed, Erin Richardson, but Eden Silva (not suprisingly) was too much for her. Especially as they're playing two matches in one day.

Qualifier Sonay Kartal defeated fifth seed, Danielle Daley, which is not that surprising, although Daley does seem to be on the LTA's list.

Alicia Dudeney (born 2003) beat Holly Staff

Also, Sasha Hill retired against Freya - hope she's OK.

So the QFs are:

Eden Silva def. Jasmine Conway
Ella Taylor v Sonay Kartal
Alicia Dudeney v Vic Allen
Freya def. Sasha
