Week 32 - Nordic Naturals Challenger - Aptos, CA, USA ($100,000) (hard)

Watched a bit of the match and you could see why Lloyd Harris won in Lexington last week. Pity for Liam as he had "final" points to defend but today he was beaten by a very good player.

Interesting musical chairs there...

As said earlier clearly not about getting entry into here but I wonder if there's been a bit of a conference about the upcoming US Open. I would guess that those current CRs ( 128 for both pairs ) would get them in whereas Luke & Jonny's CR might not.

Edit : says he forgetting all about Ken Skupski in that. Oh, I don't really know ...

The answer to your question may be that Ken won't be there, having become a father again yesterday.  As I said to him in a message, he is well on the way to producing an entire DC squad now and not just a Skupski Bros Mark 2

Yesterday we welcomed Morgan Leo Skupski into the world weighing 7lbs15oz. Mum and baby are both doing great and a big thanks to @liverpoolwomens for all their help and support. instagram.com/p/BmNvp83j_Rb/

In a quick exchange of tweets between Mike Cation and our own Liz Curran, Mike is suggesting that these changes of pairings are permanent.

Liz - hi Mike do you know why Jonny & Luke have swapped partners this week? Is it to do with Ken being home with the new baby etc? Im hoping its a temporary switch. Thx

Mike - It is not. It is a permanent switch.

I am assuming he is talking about Jonny and Joe teaming up rather than Luke and Neal, unless of course Ken has retired or found a new partner too.  Time will tell.  The word "permanent" seems to have a different meaning these days.

I got the impression from Liam that Luke & Jonny had split from his talk with Mike on live stream during one of the games. Wonder why they had some reasonable success. Although nothing much since Eastbourne.

So we're denied gthe prospect of an all-Brit final.  cry  At least there'll be no danger of divided loyalties!

SF:  Thanasi Kokkinakis & Matt Reid (AUS/AUS) CR 472 (303+169) defeated (2) Luke Bambridge & Neil Skupski CR 129 (83+46) by 3-6 7-5 [10-6]  bleh

Yes, Liam just mentioned a Jonny tennis split in a way that sounded 'permanent'. Seems strange in tennis terms re the general very good progress of Luke & Jonny if just a few disappointments in the last month or so. Maybe there is more to the Bambridge / Neal Skupski partnership longer term, I guess we will see. Would be surprised if Luke had closed off options for himself with how he sounds about pushing on.

Kokkinakis beat Harris 6-2 6-3 in the singles. Can he make it 2 for 2 later or will the Brits be too much?

Harris has had an amazing two weeks but pleased for Kokkinakis who has had so many injury problems.  Just wish Harris had taken a bit more out of him so that he was more tired for the doubles final.

Still backing Jonny and Joe though.  Well why wouldn't I ?

They lost 10-8 and I hate to say it but it was probably the worst MTB ive ever seen. Neither team deserved it!

Tough loss in the MTB. Two service returns from Kokk and Reid were completely shanked winners and then on 7-7, Kokk gets a net cord winner as well.
