Week 32 - Nordic Naturals Challenger - Aptos, CA, USA ($100,000) (hard)

Go Jay..
Shame it's not the quarter yet but these are always good fun brit v brit. Both good northern lads and hoping they both perform well with Jay just shades it.
Why are there few top GB players from the south of England?

 Goodness - that's a LONG time....

Thrilled to wake up and find out Liam won. He really needed that. AND (from the first set) he really deserved it too - he was the better player.

As for Liam v Jay, well, the great thing is that we don't get to pick (wouldn't that be awful?) - so let 'em fight it out.

Great to see Liam get a win. Maybe i'm gonna favour him in the 2nd round vs Jay but if Jay can go all the way to the title I won't be upset.

We are back to split loyalties again. Hate these. Jay is on a roll and I would love to see that continue, but Liam needs the win more than Jay right now. No idea who to support but good luck to them both and at least we get 1 GB player in the QF guaranteed.

Jay is one of my favourite British players, so tough call. But kind of favouring Liam for this one as I dont want to see him slip back after hauling himself up the rankings last year. I think for Jay it would be a minor blip as he seems to be progressing at an impressive rate.

Interesting musical chairs there...

As said earlier clearly not about getting entry into here but I wonder if there's been a bit of a conference about the upcoming US Open. I would guess that those current CRs ( 128 for both pairs ) would get them in whereas Luke & Jonny's CR might not.

Edit : says he forgetting all about Ken Skupski in that. Oh, I don't really know ...

The answer to your question may be that Ken won't be there, having become a father again yesterday.  As I said to him in a message, he is well on the way to producing an entire DC squad now and not just a Skupski Bros Mark 2

Yesterday we welcomed Morgan Leo Skupski into the world weighing 7lbs15oz. Mum and baby are both doing great and a big thanks to @liverpoolwomens for all their help and support. instagram.com/p/BmNvp83j_Rb/

Id be surprised if Ken doesnt play the US. Mainly due to the prize money available at grand slams.

Just caught the end of that set. Jay served for it at *6-5 but was broken to love. He was then 3-1 up in the breaker before Liam won 6 points in a row.

1st set Liam : 7-6(3)

More worryingly, Jay took a tumble on SP and is now having an MTO. Doesn't look like it is too serious though. Let's hope not.

Jay went over on the last point of the tiebreak and didn't get up again. There is now a mto while he receives treatment on court. This is turning into quite a day.
