Girls: Wimbledon 2018 - Grade A (Week 28)

According to Colette of Zootennis only 4 wildcards have been allocated for the main draw, fewer that I can ever recall in the last 20 years or so. These go to Emma Raducanu, Francesca Jones, Victoria Allen and Destinee Martins. Seven Brits are in the 2 day qualifying competition, but Gemma Heath, Esther Adeshina, Anna Loughlan, Amarni Banks, Ali Collins and Holly Fischer are missing from our girls ranked in the top 300 or so. Sonay Kartal has returned though after reaching a G2 semi last week

QR1

(q2) Peyton Stearns (USA) v (WC) Amelia Bissett

(q3) Daria Snigur (UKR) v (WC) Maria Budin

(q6) Mananchaya Sawangkaew (THA) v (WC) Sonay Kartal

(q7) Diae El Jardi (MAR) v (WC) Sasha Hill

(WC) Danielle Daley v (q11) Daria Frayman (RUS)

Anyone know why the LTA would not wish to support 4 more GB junior girls in the Wimbledon main draw?

Potentially Raducanu vs Garland in round 2. That'll be pretty interesting.

I am surprised that Nell Miller is not playing.

Yes, the fact that Nell wasn't given a wildcard (not even for qualis), along with Gemma, stretches bizarre to its limits.

Though I wonder if they were only offered quali ones and refused?

I certainly heard that Sasha's team believed that she had done enough for a main draw wildcard too, and yet one didn't come. (Very businesslike way of playing, that girl, admirable, as though there's a job to be done, no dramatics).

Very Proud of Sasha Hill

Took opportunity of wildcards to Roehampton grade 1 and Junior Wimbledon grand slam and mixed with some of the top tennis players in the World.

Huge steps in her tennis development.

Take it from the above that Sasha won her fqr match today ::)))
And that you are a proud parent :::)))
Brilliant, as said, thoroughly enjoyed watching her play, and her approach and attitude.

Add : seems I misunderstood. Sasha lost her fqr match today. But bravo to her for her performance in the last week and see her again next year !
