Boys: Nottingham Junior International (Week 1), hard - Grade 4 (Week 16)

The main draw is now up at http://www.itftennis.com/juniors/tournaments/tournament/info.aspx?tournamentid=1100041258  with the usual large home British contingent, including Rahul Dhokia and Felix Gill as second and third seeds

Leading 2003 boys Jack Pinnington-Jones and Joel Pierleoni make it through to round 3. Unusually there was a default to the benefit of second seed Rahul Dhokia, after splitting sets.

Wonder what happened with the default. The Jamaican gave a walk over in the doubles as well

Young Joel is still going nicely. I do think we have a terrific batch of juniors at present.

Some great clutch wins from our lads, with Alex Maggs taking out the top seed, 9-7 in the 3rd set TB, and Felix Gill winning his third set TB 7-5.

Jack PJ lost to Joe Leather. Joel P won though.

Of the 8 quarter-finalists, there are 7 British lads and one French boy.

The ITF Supervisors have the power to default players from all events, depending on the severity of the offence - looks like this one wasn't just unfortunate

Felix is one of my little faves, partly because of his padel tennis fame.

He's got a lot of potential - pleased that we've got two 2002 lads doing well here.

Up to Felix to ensure the title stays at home - he lost his previous 2 ITF finals, so lets hope its third time lucky

This French guy looks useful taking out some our better guys in straight sets

 Unfortunately, not really.

He made the last 16 in the nationals last summer. And is about the same level in all the other tournaments for his age.  And ranking. So he's about 10th-12th in the country for his age group.
