Only 4 qualifiers will advance and Tara and Eden are in the same section. Tara is in the same eighth as the #4 seed, Katarzyna Piter (POL) (WR 319 but former top 100) and Eden the #8 seed, Manon Arcangioli (FRA) WR 356, ie these are potentially their next matches should all four advance.

Hope both Tara and Eden make at least some progress. Qualifying points are 1 for reaching QR2, 3 for reaching the FQR and 5 for qualifying.

Eden's now fighting back though 3-6 6-2. An early break in the third unfortunately quickly countered 1-1*

And Tara is making a better fist of it now too 0-6 7-5

Two excellent comeback wins
In January 2017, we had a collective total of one win from a set down.
In January 2018, we already have 7 wins after losing the first set, and by 6 different players.

Well, after those good comeback 1 pointers, the two seeded players in this part of the draw have proceeded too. I fancy Eden's chances more.

Q1: MOORE, Tara (GBR) 404 beat AL NABHANI, Fatma (OMA) 489 CH=362 2010 0-6 7-5 6-2
Q1: SILVA, Eden (GBR) 501 beat CASCINO, Estelle (FRA) 409 CH=406 25/12/17 3-6 6-2 6-3

Q2: MOORE, Tara (GBR) 404 vs PITER, Katarzyna (POL) [q4] 319 (CH:95 May 14)
Q2: SILVA, Eden (GBR) 501 vs ARCANGIOLI, Manon (FRA) [q8] 356 (CH:268 March 15)

Very good to see. Your overall stats for last year showed our women losing a signficant majority of the 3 setters they played ( though maybe underdog in most of these ). Also to my mind strangely within these 3 setter stats, worse when winning the second set than the first ( ie seemingly generally not pushing through on any second set momentum ). So good to see these L/W/W results, turning things round and consolidating through to victories.

Both underway here, Tara just recovered a break; Eden will need to:
Eden, *1-3
Tara, *2-3
