Good effort from Tara, hope she can bring it home.
Tara 5-7 6-4
Eden 4-6 2-6

I thought Eden might have a better chance than she did, but she has gone out relatively straightforward 4-6 2-6
Tara however is locked in a very tight battle, and after 2 hours it is one set all. 5-7 6-4. Only 2 breaks of serve each the whole match so far.

And managed to time it almost exactly with blob smile

Congrats to Tara, that's a great win against someone about 85 places ahead of her in the rankings... Arcangioli next in the FQR.

Q2: MOORE, Tara (GBR) 404 beat PITER, Katarzyna (POL) [q4] 319 (CH:95 May 14) 5-7 6-4 6-2
Q2: SILVA, Eden (GBR) 501 lost to ARCANGIOLI, Manon (FRA) [q8] 356 (CH:268 March 15) 4-6 2-6

FQR: MOORE, Tara (GBR) 404 vs ARCANGIOLI, Manon (FRA) [q8] 356 (CH:268 March 15)

In terms of the ranking of the defeated player, Tara has only had 2 wins better than that since April of 2017.
Hard to know what to expect from Tara in 2018, so keeping low expectations at least keeps me pleasantly surprised. As opposed to expecting her to match her talent and potential, which has historically been deflating.
Every win a welcome bonus.

Very good win from Tara.

I agree with blob. Not going to expect anything from Tara in 2018. We all know she should be a solid top 150 player by now but she's never been that consistent or predictable.

Main singles and doubles draws are out now. In the doubles interesting that TaCo are not playing together but have separate partners. Perhaps good relationship management. First round of doubles matches are tomorrow, as well as the final qualifying round.

They could meet in the final - but they'd both be happy with that smile

As I heard, Tara is not a tennis lover from Day one... she played as she was told to.... 2017 she's almost burned out her will to go on life as a tennis player! blankstare  blankstare

Without knowing Tara she certainly gave off that impression towards the end of last year that she was really burned out. Her results this week have been encouraging in that regard so far, as they seem to indicate more energy and enthusiasm from her. However much she plays this year, I hope she will only do so when she feels motivated to do so rather than out of a feeling of obligation that is unproductive. It's tough around her ranking, coz her earnings are limited, but if necessary then she needs to make other choices about life off court. I don't think you can play a professional sport well if your heart is not in it, it's a recipe for losing for sure.

OK, so according to the live scores, Tara is now playing her doubles

Oh well! Come on team Bovine-of-negative-euphoria then, I guess.

Sad-Moo rocked along, and that is actually a rather decent win.
R16: Moore/Sadikovic (GBR/SUI) 436 (244 + 192) defeated Cadantu/Smitkova (ROU/CZE) 517 (160 + 357) 6-2 6-4

The order of the days events are still all a big to me though.
