Fine margins....

108 points to 112

3/10 break points to 4/10

First service percentage - not so good

But still a close encounter, given the rankiing difference of over 200 places

Pity, but just in these two weeks Emily does seem to have stepped up on 2017. Been some discussion of her pro vs college choice. Do hope that she can make this work.

They've finished off the doubles SF now, and Emilaty get their ˝ revenge for last weeks final defeat (McAdoo); in the final they will get the chance for the other ˝ (Zhu)
Emily is in to her 9,000,000,000th consecutive doubles final (MOE 99.999%)

SF: Appleton/McNally (GBR/USA) [2] defeated McAdoo/Smith (USA/USA) [3] 6-2 7-5

F: Appleton/McNally (GBR/USA) [2] v. Talcott/Zhu (USA/USA) [1]

Yay

F: (2) Appleton & McNally (GBR/USA) beat (1) Talcott & Zhu (USA/USA)  6-3 6-0

5th successive doubles final ( 3 titles, 2 RUs ) for Emily. 6th successive 15K final ( 4W & 2L ) having slipped in a cheeky 25K QF after the first of these. Into the top 500 on Monday week with all 92 of her counting ranking points having come in the last 6 months, including 8 15K finals ( 5W, 3 L ).

Clearly if just playing 15Ks it will become a case of diminishing returns for adding ranking points ( 11 15K titles would be 132 pointa ) though for now she still has two 1s. And in general singles and that singles progress will clearly determine the tournaments that she plays.

A good two weeks in general for Emily French Caribbean island hopping. Next week she is on the qualifying list for the Florida 25k clay event, where Katie S is in the main draw, and then at the moment is listed on the acceptance list for a Spanish 15k clay event two weeks after that... In Mallorca no less, so back to the holiday islands...

Might be a problem when someone hits a 100mph serve and it lands behind them wink

Oh, I think Skye would be brilliant. And what's a little challenge like that. One can always get creative. I mean if the wind gets too strong, both players can stand on the same side of the net returning their shots as the ball boomerangs back to them winkbiggrin

I have to spend quite a time on Skye and I have yet to find a tennis court there.   Please let me know if you know of one.

Indy is going to cut a pasture to prepare a couple of grass courts.
